| WHO’S AT THE CENTER? |
| The counsel of the LORD stands forever, the plans of His heart to all generations. -Psalm 33:11 |
| Recently, I had what for me was a “Copernican moment”: I am not at the center of the universe. The world doesn’t revolve around me. It doesn’t move at my pace, in my terms, nor in accord with my preferences. Though we might wish it to be otherwise, life is not all about us. Everything revolves around the Lord. In Psalm 33, we read that all nature revolves around Him and His control (vv.6-9). He assigned the sea its boundaries and locked the ocean in vast reservoirs. Everything in nature operates in accordance with the laws He has set. The nations also revolve around the Lord (vv.10-12). No plan or scheme can stand up against God’s. Ultimately, it is the Lord’s plan that will stand forever. His intentions can never be shaken. Finally, the lives of all humanity revolve around the Lord (vv.13-19). God sees the whole human race. He made our hearts, and He understands everything we do. And He has the power to intervene in our lives and deliver us from situations spinning out of control. Our life is created to be centered on God, not self. How thankful we can be to serve such a powerful God, who has every aspect of our lives under His control. -Poh Fang Chia |
| Teach me, Lord, to live out the truth of Psalm 33. May I revere You as I should. May I and all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of You, for Your counsel and plans stand forever. |

| 누가 중심에 있는가 |
| 여호와의 계획은 영원히 서고 그의 생각은 대대에 이르리로다-시편 33:11 |
| 최근에 나는 나 자신의 “코페르니쿠스적 순간”을 경험했습니다. 즉, 나는 우주의 중심에 있지 않고, 세상이 나를 위주로 돌아가지 않으며, 세상이 나의 속도나 나의 관점, 나의 취향에 따라 움직이지 않는다는 것입니다. 우리는 그렇지 않기를 바랄 수도 있지만, 인생이란 전혀 우리 위주가 아닙니다. 모든 것은 주님을 중심으로 돌고 있습니다. 시편 33편은 모든 자연이 주님을 중심으로 주님이 주관하시는 대로 돈다고 말합니다(6-9절). 하나님은 바다의 경계를 정하시고 바다를 거대한 저수지에 가두어놓으셨습니다. 자연의 모든 만물은 하나님이 정해놓으신 법칙에 따라 운행됩니다. 나라들도 역시 주님을 중심으로 돌고 있습니다(10-12절). 어떤 계획도 하나님의 계획에 대항할 수 없습니다. 궁극적으로 하나님의 계획은 영영히 설 것이며, 하나님의 뜻은 결코 흔들리지 않습니다. 결국 모든 인생은 주님을 중심으로 돌아갑니다(13-19절). 하나님은 모든 인생을 감찰하십니다. 하나님은 우리의 마음을 지으시고, 우리가 하는 모든 것을 아십니다. 그리고 하나님에게는 우리 삶에 개입하실 능력과, 우리가 궤도에서 벗어나는 상황에 있을 때 우리를 구원하실 수 있는 능력이 있습니다. 우리는 우리 자신이 아니라 하나님을 중심에 두도록 지음을 받았습니다. 우리 삶의 전 영역을 그분의 주관 아래 두시는, 그러한 능력의 하나님을 섬긴다는 것이 얼마나 감사한 일인지요. |
| 주님, 시편 33편대로 살도록 가르쳐주시고 마땅히 그래야 하듯 주님을 경외하게 하소서. 주님의 모사와 계획은 영영히 서리니 세상의 모든 사람들이 경외하며 주님 앞에 서게 하소서. |
| 우리 자신에 대한 모든 것을 버릴 때, 우리는 위에 계신 하나님을 향해 살게 된다. |
