| OUT OF CHAOS |
| Speak evil of no one, . . . be peaceable, gentle, showing all humility to all men. -Titus 3:2 |
| Everything I observe makes me believe this is true: Order is not natural. When I consider my office, I’m astounded at how quickly it descends into chaos and how long it takes me to restore order. Order requires intervention; it does not happen naturally. I shouldn’t be surprised. God’s role in bringing order out of chaos is a prominent biblical theme. He did it when He was creating the nation of Israel (Ex. 7?4). When God said it was time to bring the Hebrew people out of Egypt, Pharaoh objected. His nation’s economy depended on the Hebrew workers, so Pharaoh didn’t want to lose them. To change Pharaoh’s mind, God sent 10 plagues to convince him. Pharaoh’s magicians were able to duplicate the first two plagues. But they could not reverse the plagues-any of them. They could cause chaos, but they could not restore order. only God can do that. With effort, we can bring order to our living spaces, but none of us can bring order out of the emotional and spiritual chaos of our lives. only God can do that. He restores order to chaotic situations when we live as God intended-speaking no evil, being peaceable and gentle, and showing humility to all (Titus 3:2). -Julie Ackerman Link |
| Father, our world and our lives do have much chaos and confusion. We need You to restore our souls. Help us to live as You want us to live-loving others. |

| 아무도 비방하지 말며 다투지 말며 관용하며 범사에 온유함을 모든 사람에게 나타낼 것을 기억하게 하라-디도서 3:2 |
| 모든 것을 관찰해보면 ‘질서는 자연적이지 않다.’라는 것이 사실이라는 믿음이 듭니다. 내 사무실을 보면, 얼마나 빨리 그것이 엉망인 상태가 되고, 내가 정리하는데 얼마나 오랜 시간이 걸리는가에 대해 놀라게 됩니다. 질서정연하기 위해서는 중간에 관여를 해야 합니다. 그것은 자연적으로 일어나지 않습니다. 이것은 놀랄 일이 아닙니다. 혼돈에서 질서를 부여하시는 하나님의 역할이 성경의 두드러진 주제이기 때문입니다. 하나님은 이스라엘이라는 나라를 세우실 때 그렇게 하셨습니다(출 7-14장). 하나님이 히브리인들을 애굽에서 불러낼 때가 되었다고 말씀하셨을 때 바로는 거부했습니다. 그의 왕국의 경제가 히브리 노동자들에 의존하고 있었기 때문에 바로는 그들을 놓치고 싶지 않았던 것입니다. 그래서 하나님은 바로의 마음을 바꾸려고 열 가지 재앙을 보내셨습니다. 바로의 요술사들은 처음의 두 재앙은 재현할 수 있었지만, 그 재앙들 중 어느 하나도 원래대로 바꿔놓을 수 없었습니다. 그들은 혼돈을 일으킬 수는 있었지만 질서를 가져올 수는 없었던 것입니다. 오직 하나님만이 그렇게 하실 수 있습니다. 우리의 노력으로 우리가 사는 공간에 질서를 가져올 수는 있겠지만, 아무도 우리 삶의 정서적, 영적 혼돈으로부터 질서를 가져올 수는 없습니다. 오직 하나님만 그 일을 하실 수 있습니다. 우리가 하나님의 의도대로 아무도 비방하지 말며 다투지 말며 관용하며 범사에 온유함을 모든 사람에게 나타내며 살 때, 하나님이 혼돈의 상황에 질서를 가져오십니다(딛 3:2). |
| 하나님 아버지, 우리의 세계와 삶은 너무도 많은 혼란과 혼동이 있습니다. 우리의 영혼을 회복하기 위해 우리는 하나님이 필요합니다. 우리가 하나님께서 원하시는 대로 남을 사랑하며 살도록 도와주세요. |
| 문제를 하나님의 손에 맡기면 하나님은 우리 마음에 하나님의 평화를 주신다. |
