STILL WORKING

“Well done, good and faithful servant.” -Matthew 25:23

Vivian and Don are in their mid-90s and have been married more than 70 years. Recently Vivian suffered a setback when she broke her hip. This has been additionally difficult because for several years both Don and Vivian have been saddened by the realization that they are no longer strong enough to be active in the life and work of their church. However, Vivian and Don are still hard at work for the Lord: They are prayer warriors. While they may not always be physically present and visible in the life of their church, they are faithful “behind the scenes” in their service for Him. The parable of the talents in Matthew 25 reminds us that we must use the “talents” God has given us wisely. All of us have God-given skills and abilities at various levels-and we must not bury, unused, what God has given us. It is not only in our years of strength that God will use us, but also in our youth and age, as well as in our sickness and weakness. Vivian and Don continue to serve by praying. And like them, we honor our Savior by using our skills-“each according to his own ability” (v.15) to serve Him who is worthy. -Dave Branon

Lord, You have done so much for me. Please show me what I can do to serve You-to honor You with the abilities You have provided. May my life be a living sacrifice of love and action for Your honor

God can use you at any age-if you are willing.

잘 하였도다 착하고 충성된 종아-마태복음 25:23

비비안과 단은 나이가 90대 중반으로 결혼한 지 70년이 넘었습니다. 그런데 최근에 비비안이 엉덩이뼈가 부러지면서 좌절감에 빠져 힘들어했습니다. 지난 몇 년 동안 둘 다 생활이나 교회 일을 더 이상 활발히 할 수 없다는 걸 깨닫고 우울해 있었기 때문에, 이 일은 그들에게 어려움을 더해주었습니다. 하지만, 비비안과 단은 아직도 주님을 위해 열심히 일합니다. 그들은 기도의 용사들입니다. 그들이 매번 교회에 직접 참석하지는 못하고, 교회행사에 모습을 보이지 않더라도, 그들은 “무대 뒤에서” 주님을 섬기는 일에 충실합니다. 마태복음 25장에 나오는 재능에 관한 비유는 하나님이 우리에게 주신 “재능”을 현명하게 사용해야 함을 상기시켜줍니다. 우리는 모두 하나님이 주신 다양한 기술과 능력을 부여받았습니다. 우리는 하나님이 주신 것을 묻어버려서도, 사용하지 않아서도 안 됩니다. 하나님은 우리가 강할 때뿐만 아니라, 우리가 어릴 때나 나이 들어서나, 또 우리가 아플 때나 약할 때도 우리를 사용하실 것입니다. 비비안과 단은 기도로 계속 섬기고 있습니다. 그리고 그들처럼, 우리도 높으신 주님을 섬기기 위해 “각각 그 재능대로”(15절) 우리의 능력을 사용함으로써 우리 구주를 영화롭게 합니다.

주님, 주님은 저를 위해 많은 것을 하셨습니다. 제가 주님을 섬기기 위해, 베풀어주신 능력으로 주님을 영광스럽게 하기 위해 무엇을 할 수 있는지 알려주세요. 저의 삶이 주님의 영광을 위한 사랑과 행동의 살아있는 제물이 되기를 기도합니다.

하나님은 어떤 나이에도 당신을 쓰실 수 있다. 당신이 기꺼이 원하기만 한다면.
