회심으로 선천적인 경향이 변화됨

우리 자신의 힘으로는 타락된 우리의 본성의 욕구를 물리칠 수 없다.

사탄은 이 통로를 통하여 우리에게 시험을 가져올 것이다.

그리스도께서는 원수가 각 사람에게 와서 인간의 선천적인 약점을 이용하고,

하나님을 신뢰하지 않는 모든 사람을 거짓말로 올무에 빠뜨리려 할 것을 아셨다.

그러므로 우리 주께서는 사람이 걸어가야 할 지경을 먼저 통과하셔서

우리로 하여금 이길 수 있는 길을 마련해 주셨다.

사탄과의 투쟁에서 우리가 불리한 처지에 놓이는 것은 하나님의 뜻이 아니다.

…그분은 “담대하라 내가 세상을 이기었노라”(요 16: 33)고 말씀하신다.

진정한 회심으로 악으로 기우는, 선천적인 경향과 후천적인 경향은 변화된다.

하나님을 믿는 종교는 수많은 실로 구성되고 기지와 기술로 함께 짜여진 견고한 직물이다.

오직 하나님께로부터 온 지혜로 이 직물은 완전하게 만들어질 수 있다....

우리가 고려해야 할 문제는 우리에게 그리스도의 속성이 있는가이다.

핑계는 쓸모없다.

온갖 환경, 온갖 식욕과 정욕은 하나님을 두려워하는 사람의 종이 되어야지 지배자가 되어서는 안 된다.

그리스도인은 그 어떤 유전적이거나 길러진 습관 혹은 경향에 사로잡힌 노예가 되어서는 안된다.

Conversion Changes Inherited Tendencies

In our own strength it is impossible for us to deny the clamors of our fallen nature. Through this channel Satan will bring temptation upon us. Christ knew that the enemy would come to every human being to take advantage of hereditary weakness and by his false insinuations to ensnare all whose trust is not in God.

And by passing over the ground which man must travel, our Lord has prepared the way for us to overcome. It is not His will that we should be placed at a disadvantage in the conflict with Satan.... “Be of good cheer,” He says; “I have overcome the world” (John 16:33).

A genuine conversion changes hereditary and cultivated tendencies to wrong. The religion of God is a firm fabric, composed of innumerable threads and woven together with tact and skill. only the wisdom which comes from God can make this fabric complete....

The question for us to consider is, Have we the attributes of Christ? Excuses are valueless. All circumstances, all appetites and passions, are to be servants to the God-fearing man, not rulers over him. The Christian is not to be enslaved by any hereditary or cultivated habits or tendency.
