하나님과 더불어 일하는 자

그대들은 하나님의 사업에 착수도 하지 않고

무슨 큰 기회를 기다리거나 비상한 재능을 가지기를 바라서는 안 된다.

그대들은 세상이 그대를 어떻게 생각하든지 그것은 생각할 필요가 없다. 

그대의 매일의 생애가 그대의 신앙의 깨끗함과 독실함을 증거하고

다른 사람들이 그대가 저희를 유익되게 하려는 소원을 가졌다는 것을 확신하게 될 것 같으면

그대의 노력이 전혀 허지로 돌아가지는 않을 것이다.

예수의 제자 중에 아무리 비천하고 가난한 자라도 남에게 복의 기관이 될 수 있는 것이다.

저들은 비록 저희가 무슨 특별히 선한 일을 행한다고는 느끼지 않을는지 모르나,

저희의 무의식중에 끼치는 감화력으로 말미암아

저희는 축복의 파동을 일으키어 그것이 널리 또는 깊이 미치게 될 것이니

그 복된 결과는 저희가 최후 보상의 날까지 도무지 알 수 없을 것이다. 

저들은 무슨 큰일을 행하고 있다는 것을 생각지도 않고 알지도 못한다.

저희는 성공에 대해서 염려함으로 스스로 초조할 필요는 없다.

저들은 다만 가만히 나아가서 하나님의 섭리로 맡겨진 일을 신실히 행할 것뿐이니

그리하여 저들의 생애는 헛되지 아니할 것이다. 

그리하여 저들은 영적으로 점점 자라나서 그리스도와 같이 될 것이요,

또한 현세에서도 하나님과 더불어 일하는 자가 되어

내세의 더욱 고상한 일과 완전한 기쁨을 위하여 준비하는 자가 될 것이다.

Workers Together with God

You are not to wait for great occasions or to expect extraordinary abilities before you go to work for God. You need not have a thought of what the world will think of you. 

If your daily life is a testimony to the purity and sincerity of your faith, and others are convinced that you desire to benefit them, your efforts will not be wholly lost.

The humblest and poorest of the disciples of Jesus can be a blessing to others. They may not realize that they are doing any special good, but by their unconscious influence they may start waves of blessing that will widen and deepen, and the blessed results they may never know until the day of final reward. 

They do not feel or know that they are doing anything great. They are not required to weary themselves with anxiety about success. They have only to go forward quietly, doing faithfully the work that God’s providence assigns, and their life will not be in vain. 

Their own souls will be growing more and more into the likeness of Christ; they are workers together with God in this life and are thus fitting for the higher work and the unshadowed joy of the life to come.
