내가 너를 보낸 것이 아니냐?

기드온은 그의 백성을 구원하라는 하나님의 부르심을 받았다....
돌연히 “여호와의 사자”가 나타나 “큰 용사여 여호와께서 너와 함께 계시도다”라고 기드온에게 말하였다.

기드온은 “나의 주여 여호와께서 우리와 함께 계시면 어찌하여 이 모든 일이 우리에게 미쳤나이까

또 우리 열조가 일찍 우리에게 이르기를 여호와께서 우리를 애굽에서 나오게 하신 것이 아니냐

이제 여호와께서 우리를 버리사 미디안의 손에 붙이셨나이다”라고 대답하였다.

하늘의 사자는 “너는 이 네 힘을 의지하고 가서 이스라엘을 미디안의 손에서 구원하라

내가 너를 보낸 것이 아니냐?”고 말하였다.

기드온은 그의 앞에 잇는 큰 일에 대하여 자기 자신이 부족하다는 것을 절실히 느꼈다. …

주께서는 그의 사업을 위하여 항상 가장 큰 달란트를 가진 자만을 사용하시지는 않는다.

그러나 그는 가장 잘 사용할 수 있는 자들을 선택하신다.

하나님을 위하여 선한 봉사를 할 수 있는 자들이 한때 한 구석에 파묻혀

주님께 주의를 받지도 사용되지도 않는 것처럼 보일 수도 있다.

그러나 그들이 비천한 지위에서 그분을 위하여 수고하고 희생하려는 자원하는 마음으로

그들의 의무를 신실하게 이행한다면 하나님께서는 적합한 때에 그들에게 더 큰 책임을 맡겨주실 것이다.

명예 앞에 겸손이 있다.

주님께서는 자기 자신이 무가치하고 무능함을 가장 절실하게 느끼는 자들을

가장 효과적으로 사용하실 수 있다.

그분께서는 저들에게 믿음의 용기를 활용하는 것을 가르치실 것이다.

그분은 저들의 연약함과 그분의 전능함이 연합하고,

저들의 무지와 그분의 지혜를 연결 시키심으로 저들을 강하게 만드실 것이다.

Haven’t I Sent You?

To Gideon came the divine call to deliver his people....
Suddenly the “Angel of the Lord” appeared and addressed him with the words, “The LORD is with you, mighty warrior.”

“O my Lord,” was his answer, “if the Lord be with us, why then is all this befallen us? and where be all his miracles which our fathers told us of, saying, Did not the Lord bring us up from Egypt? but now the Lord hath forsaken us, and delivered us into the hands of the Midianites.”

The Lord turned to him and said, “Go in the strength you have and save Israel out of Midian’s hand. Am I not sending you?” Judges 6:14.

Gideon deeply felt his own insufficiency for the great work before him.... The Lord does not always choose for His work men of the greatest talents, but He selects those whom He can best use.

Individuals who might do good service for God, may for a time be left in obscurity, apparently unnoticed and unemployed by their Master.

But if they faithfully perform the duties of their humble position, cherishing a willingness to labor and to sacrifice for Him, He will in His own time intrust them with greater responsibilities.

Before honor is humility. The Lord can use most effectually those who are most sensible of their own unworthiness and inefficiency.

He will teach them to exercise the courage of faith. He will make them strong by uniting their weakness to His might, wise by connecting their ignorance with His wisdom.
