하나님을 붙잡고 전진하라

하나님께서는 사람에게 지성을 주셨고, 향상시킬 수 있는 역량들을 수여하셨다.

그러므로 하나님을 굳게 붙잡고 경박함과 오락과 온갖 더러움을 버리도록 하라. 

모든 품성의 결점들을 정복하라.

밑으로 내려가는 길을 좇으려는 선천적 경향이 있지만,

사람의 열렬한 노력과 결합하기 위하여 임할 권세가 있다.

그분의 의지력은 사람의 선천적 경향에 반대된다. 

사람이 거룩한 조력자와 결합된다면 유혹자의 음성을 물리칠 수 있다.

그러나 사탄의 유혹들은 사람의 결함 많고 죄된 경향들과 조화되며, 그에게 죄를 짓도록 충동질한다. 

그런 사람이 해야 할 일의 전부는

그가 무엇을 해야 할지를 말해 주실 인도자 예수 그리스도를 따르는 것이다. 

하나님께서는 하늘에 있는 그분의 보좌에서 그대를 손짓으로 부르시면서

그대에게 불멸의 영광의 면류관을 제시하시고

그대에게 믿음의 선한 싸움을 싸우고 인내로써 경주를 경주하라고 명하신다. 

매 순간 하나님을 신뢰하라. 

앞서서 우리를 이끄시는 분은 신실하시다.

사람에 대한 하나님의 이상은 사람이 생각해 낼 수 있는 가장 높은 것보다도 더 높다. 

경건 곧 하나님과 같은 성품을 갖는 것이 도달해야 할 목표이다. ... 

이 목표와 표준은 선하고 순결하고 고상한 모든 것을 포함한다.

그는 참된 지식의 각 분야에서 가능한 한 빨리, 그리고 멀리 나아갈 것이다. 

그러나 그의 노력은 하늘이 땅보다 높음같이

단순히 이기적이며 속된 관심사보다 더 고상한 것들을 얻는 데로 돌려질 것이다.

Take Hold of God and Move Forward

God has given man intellect, and endowed him with capacities for improvement. Then let there be a strong taking hold upon God, a putting away of frivolity, amusement, and all uncleanness. 

Overcome all defects of character.

Although there is a natural tendency to pursue a downward course, there is a power that will be brought to combine with man’s earnest effort. 

His willpower will have a counteracting tendency. 

If he will combine with this divine help, he may resist the voice of the tempter. But Satan’s temptations harmonize with his defective, sinful tendencies, and urge him to sin. 

All he has to do is to follow the leader Jesus Christ who will tell him just what to do. 

God beckons to you from His throne in heaven, presenting to you a crown of immortal glory, and bids you to fight the good fight of faith and run the race with patience. 

Trust in God every moment. 

He is faithful that leadeth forward.

Higher than the highest human thought can reach is God’s ideal for His children. Godliness—godlikeness—is the goal to be reached. ...

He has an object to achieve, a standard to attain, that includes everything good, and pure, and noble. He will advance as fast and as far as possible in every branch of true knowledge. 

But his efforts will be directed to objects as much higher than mere selfish and temporal interests as the heavens are higher than the earth.
