만(灣)을 위한 다리(橋)

예수께서“내가 곧 길이요 진리요 생명이니”라고 말씀하셨을 때에 의미심장한 훌륭한 진리를 말씀하셨다. 

사람의 범죄가 땅을 하늘로부터 분리시켰으며 유한한 인간을 무한하신 하나님으로부터 분리시켰다.

섬이 대륙에서 분리된 것처럼 이 땅이 하늘에서 분리되어

사람과 하나님 사이에는 넓은 수로(水路)가 개재케 되었다. 

예수께서는 이 만(灣)에 다리를 놓으시고 사람이 하나님께 나아갈 수 있는 길을 마련하셨다.

영적 빛을 갖지 못하였던 사람은 소망을 갖지 못하였는바

사람들은 생명으로 나아가는 길에 관하여 자기 자신의 이론들을 창작해 내었다.… 

그러나 천하 인간에 사람들이 구원받을 수 있는 유일의 이름은 예수님이시다.

죄가 만들어 놓은 만(灣)을 건너서”내가 길이요 진리요 생명”이라고 하신 말씀이 이르러 온다......

그리스도는“내가 문이니 누구든지 나로 말미암아 들어가면 구원을 얻고

또는 들어가며 나오며 꼴을 얻으리라”(요 10:9)고 말씀하셨다. 

땅이여 기뻐하라, 이 세상에 사는 거민들이여 기뻐하라,

그리스도는 죄가 만든 만(灣)에 다리를 놓으시고 하늘과 땅을 하나로 연결시키셨다.

주님께 구속받은 자들을 위하여 훌륭한 길이 마련되어 있다. 

수고하고 무거운 짐진 자들은 주님 앞으로 나아 갈 수 있고 저들의 영혼은 쉼을 얻는다.

나그네는 주님께서 저들을 위하여 가셔서 만들어 놓으신 집을 향하여 여행을 할 수 있다.

A Bridge for the Gulf

When Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life,” He uttered a truth of wonderful significance. 

The transgression of man had separated earth from heaven, and finite man from the infinite God. As an island is separated from a continent, so earth was cut off from heaven, and a wide channel intervened between man and God. 

Jesus bridged this gulf, and made a way for man to come to God. He who has no spiritual light sees no way, has no hope, and men have originated theories of their own regarding the way to life.... 

But the only name given among men whereby they can be saved is Jesus. Across the gulf that sin has made come His words, “I am the way, the truth, and the life.”...

“By me,” said Christ, “if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture” (John 10:9). 

Let earth be glad, let the inhabitants of the world rejoice, that Christ has bridged the gulf which sin had made, and has bound earth and heaven together. A highway has been cast up for the ransomed of the Lord. 

The weary and heavy laden may come unto Him and find rest to their souls. The pilgrim may journey toward the mansions that He has gone to prepare for those who love Him.
