은혜와 평강의 생애

만일 그대들이 “믿음에 덕을, 덕에 지식을, 지식에 절제를, 절제에 인내를, 인내에 경건을,

경건에 형제 우애를, 형제 우애에 사랑을 공급” (벧후 1:5-7) 한다면

그대들은 은혜와 평강이 더욱 많아질 것이라는 약속을 베드로후서 1장에서 발견할 것이다. 

이 덕성들은 놀라운 보배이다.

그것들은 “사람을 정금보다 희소케 하며 오빌의 순금보다 희귀케” (사 13:12) 한다.

사도 베드로를 통하여 교회에 주신 교훈을 생애에 실천하는 자들은 위로부터 능력을 받게 될 것이다. 

우리는 우리의 부르심과 택하심을 굳게 하면서 덧셈의 계획대로 살아야 한다. 

우리는 모든 말과 행위로 그리스도를 대표해야 한다.

우리는 그분의 생애를 살아야 한다. 

그분께서 생애하신 원칙들이 우리가 교제하는 사람들에 대한 우리의 행동을 꼴 지어야한다. 

우리가 그리스도 안에 분명히 닻을 내리게 될 때 우리는 아무도 빼앗아 갈 수 없는 능력을 소유하게 된다. 

그 이유가 무엇일까? 

우리가 정욕을 인하여 세상에서 썩어질 것을 피하여 신의 성품에 참예하는 자들,

인류의 선두에 서서 죄의 점이나 흠이 없는 품성을 계발하기 위하여

인성의 옷을 입고 이 땅에 오신 분의 성품에 참예하는 자들이 되기 때문이다.

A Life of Grace and Peace

In the first chapter of the second epistle of Peter

you will find the promise that grace and peace will be multiplied unto you,

if you will “add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge;

and to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness;

and to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity.’ - 2 Peter 1:5-7. 

These virtues are wonderful treasures. 

They “make a man more precious than fine gold;

even a man than the golden wedge of Ophir.” - Isaiah 13:12

Those who will carry out in their lives the instruction given to the church

through the apostle Peter will receive power from above. 

We are to live upon the plan of addition,

giving all diligence to make our calling and election sure. 

We are to represent Christ in all that we say and do. 

We are to live His life. 

The principles by which He was guided are to shape our course of action

toward those with whom we are associated. 

When we are securely anchored in Christ,

we have a power that no human being can take from us. 

우리가 그리스도 안에 분명히 닻을 내리게 될 때

우리는 아무도 빼앗아 갈 수 없는 능력을 소유하게 된다. 

Why is this? 

Because we are partakers of the divine nature,

having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust,

partakers of the nature of Him

who came to this earth clothed with the habiliments of humanity,

that He might stand at the head of the human race

and develop a character that was without spot or stain of sin. 

그 이유가 무엇일까? 

우리가 정욕을 인하여 세상에서 썩어질 것을 피하여 신의 성품에 참예하는 자들,

인류의 선두에 서서 죄의 점이나 흠이 없는 품성을 계발하기 위하여

인성의 옷을 입고 이 땅에 오신 분의 성품에 참예하는 자들이 되기 때문이다.
