귀중한 기도의 특권

귀중한 기도의 특권을 올바르게 깨닫고 이용하는 사람은 별로 없다.

우리는 예수님께 가서 우리의 모든 필요를 그분께 알려야 한다.

우리는 더 큰 어려움은 물론이요 우리의 작은 염려와 걱정을 그분께 가져갈 수 있다.

우리를 곤란하게 하고 어렵게 만드는 것이 무엇이든지 간에 우리는 기도로써 그것을 주님께 가져가야 한다.

우리가 발걸음마다 그리스도의 임재가 필요함을 느낄 때,

사단은 그의 시험을 개입시킬 기회를 거의 얻지 못할 것이다.

우리의 가장 선량하고 동정 깊은 친구에게서 우리를 분리시키려고 그는 심사 숙고해서 노력한다.

우리는 예수님 외에 아무도 우리의 막연한 친구로 삼아서는 안 된다.

우리는 우리의 마음 속에 있는 모든 것을 그분에게 안심하고 알릴 수 있다...

기도는 가장 거룩한 영혼의 활동이다.

그것은 진실하고, 겸손하고, 열렬해야 하며, 거룩하신 하나님의 임재 앞에서 발한 새 마음의 욕망이어야 한다.

탄원자가 거룩한 임재 앞에 있음을 느낄 때 자아는 잊어버린바 된다.

그는 인간적인 재능을 과시하기 위한 욕망을 갖지 않을 것이다.

그는 사람들의 귀를 즐겁게 하고자 노력하지 않고, 영혼이 갈망하는 축복을 얻고자 노력할 것이다.

The Precious Privilege of Prayer

There are few who rightly appreciate or improve the precious privilege of prayer.

We should go to Jesus and tell Him all our needs. We may bring Him our little cares and perplexities as well as our greater troubles.

Whatever arises to disturb or distress us, we should take it to the Lord in prayer.

When we feel that we need the presence of Christ at every step, Satan will have little opportunity to intrude his temptations.

It is his studied effort to keep us away from our best and most sympathizing friend.

We should make no one our confidant but Jesus. We can safely commune with Him of all that is in our hearts...

Prayer is the most holy exercise of the soul. It should be sincere, humble, earnest—the desires of a renewed heart breathed in the presence of a holy God.

When the suppliant feels that he is in the divine presence, self will be forgotten. He will have no desire to display human talent; he will not seek to please the ear of men, but to obtain the blessing which the soul craves.
