하나님의 말씀이 동반자가 되는 경험

 

누구나, 하나님의 말씀을 가지고 있는 사람은

어떠한 경우를 당하더라도 그가 원하는 동반자와 같이 하는 경험을 하게 된다. 

 성경의 각 페이지에서, 그는 인류의 가장 고상하고 훌륭한 사람들과 더불어 교제하며

하나님께서 인류에게 말씀하시는 영원한 음성을 들을 수가 있다. 

 

그는 “천사들도 살펴보기를 원하는” (벧전 1:12) 제목들을 연구하고 명상하며

 천사들과 더불어 친교의 경험을 가질 수가 있다.

그는 하늘로부터 오신 교사의 발자국을 좇아서 살며,

오래 전에 예수님께서 산과 들과 바다에서 가르치실 때에 하신 것과 같은 말씀을 들을 수 있다 

 

이러한 사람은 세상에 있으나 하늘의 분위기 속에서 살며,

슬픔과 유혹에 처한 사람들에게 희망과 성결을 사모하는 마음을 나눠 주고,

보이지 아니하시는 하나님과 더불어 더욱 밀접하게 교제를 나누면서

마치 옛적에 하나님과 함께 동행한 사람들처럼 더욱 더 영원한 세계에 가까이 이르러 살다가,

하늘 문이 열릴 때에 그리로 들어갈 수 있는 이들이다

 

그때, 순례자의 생활은 끝이 나고, 그들은 이제 더 이상 나그네가 아님을 알게 된다.

그들에게 인사하는 목소리는,

땅 위에 살 때에 보이지는 아니하였으나 동행한 거룩한 이들의 소리로,

이제 여기서는 누구의 소리인지 능히 분별하고 사랑할 수 있는 것이다. 

 

하나님의 말씀을 통해서 그분과 교제하며 살아온 이들은

하늘 본향에서 그분과의 교제에 참여하게 될 것이다.

Companionship With the Word of God

With the word of God in his hands, every human being, wherever his lot in life may be cast, may have such companionship as he shall choose. 

In its pages he may hold converse with the noblest and best of the human race, and may listen to the voice of the Eternal as He speaks with men. 

As he studies and meditates upon the themes into which “the angels desire to look” (1 Peter 1:12), he may have their companionship. He may follow the steps of the heavenly Teacher, and listen to His words as when He taught on mountain and plain and sea. 

He may dwell in this world in the atmosphere of heaven, imparting to earth’s sorrowing and tempted ones thoughts of hope and longings for holiness; himself coming closer and still closer into fellowship with the Unseen; like him of old who walked with God, drawing nearer and nearer the threshold of the eternal world, until the portals shall open, and he shall enter there. 

He will find himself no stranger. The voices that will greet him are the voices of the holy ones, who, unseen, were on earth his companions—voices that here he learned to distinguish and to love. 

He who through the word of God has lived in fellowship with heaven, will find himself at home in heaven’s companionship.
