세상과 동화됨의 위험

사단은 하나님의 백성들과 세상과 분리시키는 장벽을 무너뜨림으로써 그들을 정복하고자

끊임없이 노력하고 있다.

옛날 이스라엘 사람들은 금지된 이방인들과의 교제를 하고자 모험함으로

죄에 빠지도록 유혹을 받았다. 

그와 마찬가지 방법으로 현대 이스라엘 사람들도 타락하게 된다.

“이 세상 신이 믿지 아니하는 자들의 마음을 혼미케 하여

그리스도의 영광의 복음의 광채가 비취지 못하게 함이니

그리스도는 하나님의 형상이니라” (고후 4:4)

 

 

그리스도의 확고한 추종자들이 아닌 사람들은 모두 사단의 종이다.

거듭나지 않은 사람의 마음에는 죄를 사랑하는 마음과 죄를 간직하고 핑계하려는 정신이 있다.

그러나 거듭난 마음에는 죄를 미워하고 그것을 확고하게 저항하는 마음이 있다. 

그리스도인이 경건치 않고 믿지 않는 사람들과의 교제를 택하는 것은

그들 스스로를 시험에 노출시키는 것이다.

사단은 자신을 숨기고 속임수의 휘장으로 감쪽같이 그들의 눈을 가리운다.

그들은 그런 교제가 그들에게 해를 주리라는 사실을 전혀 깨닫지 못한다.

끊임없이 품성과 언어와 행동에 있어서 세상과 동화됨으로 그들은 더욱더 눈이 멀어간다.

 

세상의 습관을 따를 것 같으면

교회가 세상으로 돌아가지 세상이 그리스도께로 돌아오지 않을 것이다.

죄와 친숙해지면 필연적으로 죄에 대한 저항이 적어진다.

사단의 종들과 교제하는 길을 택하는 자는 미구에 그들의 지배를 두려워하지 않게 될 것이다. 

 

다니엘이 왕의 궁정에서 당한 것처럼 우리도 의무를 이행하기 위하여 시련을 받을 때

하나님께서 우리를 보호해주실 것을 확신할 수 있다.

그러나 만일 우리 스스로 자신을 시험을 받는 처지에 두게 되면 우리는 조만간에 넘어질 것이다.

The Danger of Conformity To Worldly Customs

Satan is continually seeking to overcome the people of God by breaking down the barriers which separate them from the world. Ancient Israel were enticed into sin when they ventured into forbidden association with the heathen. In a similar manner are modern Israel led astray. 

“The God of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.” 2 Corinthians 4:4. 

All who are not decided followers of Christ are servants of Satan. In the unregenerate heart there is love of sin and a disposition to cherish and excuse it. In the renewed heart there is hatred of sin and determined resistance against it. 

When Christians choose the society of the ungodly and unbelieving, they expose themselves to temptation. Satan conceals himself from view and stealthily draws his deceptive covering over their eyes. They cannot see that such company is calculated to do them harm; and while all the time assimilating to the world in character, words, and actions, they are becoming more and more blinded. 

Conformity to worldly customs converts the church to the world; it never converts the world to Christ. Familiarity with sin will inevitably cause it to appear less repulsive. He who chooses to associate with the servants of Satan will soon cease to fear their master. 

When in the way of duty we are brought into trial, as was Daniel in the king’s court, we may be sure that God will protect us; but if we place ourselves under temptation we shall fall sooner or later.
