장래의 시련을 위한 준비

 

The servants of Christ are to prepare no set speech to present

when brought to trial for their faith.

 

그리스도의 종들은 신앙을 인하여 시련을 받게 될 때

판에 박은 듯한 말을 제시하려고 준비하여서는 안 된다.

 

Their preparation is to be made day by day,

in treasuring up in their hearts the precious truths of God’s Word,

in feeding upon the teaching of Christ, and through prayer strengthening their faith;

then, when brought into trial, the Holy Spirit will bring to their remembrance the very truths that will reach the hearts of those who shall come to hear.

God will flash the knowledge obtained by diligent searching of the Scriptures

into their memory at the very time when it is needed.

 

그들의 준비는

매일 매일 하나님의 말씀의 고귀한 진리를 마음에 간직하고 그리스도의 가르침을 받아먹고 살며 신앙을 증진시키는 기도를 통하여 이루어져야만 한다.

그러면 시련을 당할 때에라도 성령께서 말씀을 듣고자 오는 사람들의 마음을 움직이게 할

바로 그 진리들을 생각나게 해주실 것이다.

하나님께서는 부지런히 성경을 연구함으로 얻어진 지식을

그것이 필요한 바로 그 때에 그들의 기억에 떠오르게 하실 것이다.

 

When the time of trial shall come there are men now preaching to others who will find,

upon examining the positions they hold,

that there are many things for which they can give no satisfactory reason.

Until thus tested they knew not their great ignorance.

 

시련의 때가 올 때,

오늘날 다른 사람들에게 전도하고 있는 사람들이, 그들이 역설하는 주장들을 살펴보고

그들이 만족할만한 이유를 제시할 수 없는 많은 것들이 있다는 것을 발견할 것이다.

이와 같은 시험을 받기 전에는 그들이 크게 무지했다는 것을 알지 못했다.

 

And there are many in the church who take it for granted that they understand

what they believe, but, until controversy arises, they do not know their own weakness.

 

그리고 교회 안에는 그들이 무엇을 믿고 있는지 이해하고 있다고 당연시 여기는 사람들이 많다.

그러나 논쟁이 생기기 전에는 그들이 자신의 약점을 알지 못한다.

 

When separated from those of like faith and compelled to stand singly

and alone to explain their belief, they will be surprised to see

how confused are their ideas of what they had accepted as truth.

 

같은 믿음을 가진 자들에게서 분리되어 홀로 서서 단신으로 그들의 신조를 설명하도록 강요당하면 그들은 그들이 진리로 받아들였던 것들에 대한 그들의 견해가 얼마나 분명치 않은 것이었는지

깨닫고 놀랄 것이다.
