구원받는 이치의 단순함

 

그리스도의 의를 붙잡고자 하는 자는 자기의 죄를 정결하게 하는 일에 한순간도 지체해서는 안 된다. 그는 그리스도의 의를 붙잡기 전에 적절한 회개를 이룰 때까지 기다릴 필요가 없다.

우리는 구원의 문제를 이해하지 못한다. 그것은 ABC처럼 단순하다.

그러나 우리는 그것을 이해하지 못한다.

 

그렇다면 사람이 어떻게 회개할 것인가?

그것은 저절로 이루어지는 어떤 일인가?

그렇지 않다. 왜냐하면 육신의 마음은 하나님과 원수가 되기 때문이다.

육신의 마음은 회개할 수 있는 힘이 없는데, 어떻게 회개하게 되겠는가?

무엇이 인간을 회개하게 만드는가?

 

그리스도 예수님께서 그 일을 하신다.

그분은 어떻게 사람들을 회개에 이르게 하는가?

그분은 수천 가지의 방법으로 그렇게 하신다.

 

하늘에 계신 하나님께서는 시종 인간의 마음에 역사하고 계신다.

하나님의 말씀 속에 초청이 주어져 있다.

비단 그곳에서뿐만 아니라 예수 그리스도를 믿는 모든 사람들과 품성으로

그리스도를 드러내는 자들을 통해서도 초청은 주어진다.

그들이 직접 설교를 하거나 직접 사람들에게 다가와

그들의 회개하지 않은 상태에 대하여 지적하지 않을 수도 있다.

그러나 회개하지 않은 사람이 예수 그리스도의 제자들 중 한 사람과 연결되었을 때,

그는 자기가 가지고 있지 않은 어떤 것이 제자들에게 있음을 발견하게 된다.

 

바리새인들은 그들이 이해할 수 없는 어떤 것이 제자들에게 있음을 보았다.

바리새인들은 무엇인가 놀라운 것을 보았으며,

제자들이 예수님의 말씀을 듣고 그분으로부터 교훈을 배웠다는 사실을 마음속으로 깨달았다.

 

항상 계속되는 감명이 있다.

인간의 영혼을 둘러싸고 있는 분위기가 있는데, 그것은 하늘의 것이 아니면 지옥의 것이다.

이 둘을 구별하는 선(線)이 있다.

우리는 그리스도의 편에 있게 되거나 아니면 원수의 편에 있게 된다.

만일 우리가 영광으로부터 신령한 광채를 계속적으로 받아들인다면,

하나님의 천사들이 우리 곁에 머물면서 사람의 영혼을 감싸는 분위기가 된다.

우리의 모든 행위와 언어를 통해서 우리가 영향을 미칠 수 있는 범위에 속한 모든 사람들에게

진정한 회개에 대해서 증거하게 된다.

 

“성령과 신부가 말씀하시기를 목마른 자도 올 것이요 듣는 자도 오라 할 것이요.”

 

The Simplicity of Being Saved

He who will lay hold of Christ’s righteousness need not wait one moment that he himself may blot out his own sins. He need not wait until he has made a suitable repentance before he may take hold upon Christ’s righteousness. We do not understand the matter of salvation. It is just as simple as ABC. But we don’t understand it.

Now, how is it that a man will repent? Is it anything of himself? No; because the natural heart is at enmity with God. Then how can the natural heart stir itself up to repentance when it has no power to do so? What is it that brings man to repentance? It is Jesus Christ. How does He bring man to repentance? There are a thousand ways that He may do this.

The God of heaven is working upon human minds all the time. An invitation is given in the Word of God, and it is not only given there, but it is given by all those who believe on Jesus Christ and are revealing Christ in their characters. They may not preach a discourse; they may not come directly to a person and speak to him in regard to his condition of impenitence, yet such a one sees when brought into connection with any of the disciples of Jesus Christ that there is something there that he does not have. The Pharisees saw that there was something in the disciples that they could not interpret. They saw something wonderful and were settled in their minds that the disciples had been listening to Jesus and they had learned their lessons from Him.

There are the impressions that are going forth all the time. There is an atmosphere that surrounds the human soul and that atmosphere is a heavenly atmosphere or a hellish atmosphere. There are but two distinct lines. Either we are on Christ’s side of the question or on the enemy’s side. And if we are continually drawing rays of divine light from glory, angels of God are around about us and there is an atmosphere that surrounds the human soul. Our very attitude, our very words, witness genuine conversion to all who come within the sphere of our influence. “The Spirit and the bride say come, and let him that heareth say come, and let him that is athirst come.” – Faith and Works, 64-5.
