감사와 찬미

 

각 시대를 통하여 구주의 택하심을 받은 사람들은 시련의 학교에서 교육과 훈련을 받아 왔다.

그들은 세상에서 좁은 길을 걸어가고, 고난의 풀무에서 정결함을 받았다.

그들은 예수님을 위하여 반대와 증오와 중상을 견디었다.

그들은 괴로운 투쟁을 통하여 주님을 따르고, 극기하고, 실망의 쓴맛을 보았다.

 

1) 그들은 그들 자신들의 괴로운 경험을 통하여 

죄의 사악함, 그 능력, 그 해독, 그 참상을 깨닫고, 죄를 미워하게 된다.

 

2) 무한한 희생으로 죄에서 치료받게 되고 그들이 겸손해진 것을 깨닫고 그들의 마음은

타락한 일이 결코 없는 다른 세계의 거민들이 맛볼 수 없는 감사와 찬양의 마음으로 충만해진다.

 

3) 그들은 용서를 많이 받았기 때문에 더욱 많이 사랑한다.

 

4) 그들은 그리스도의 고난에 동참하였으므로 주님과 함께 그분의 영광에 참여하기에 합당하다.

Gratitude and Praise

 

In all ages the Saviour's chosen have been educated and disciplined in the school of trial. They walked in narrow paths on earth; they were purified in the furnace of affliction. For Jesus' sake they endured opposition, hatred, calumny. They followed Him through conflicts sore; they endured self-denial and experienced bitter disappointments. By their own painful experience they learned the evil of sin, its power, its guilt, its woe; and they look upon it with abhorrence. A sense of the infinite sacrifice made for its cure humbles them in their own sight and fills their hearts with gratitude and praise which those who have never fallen cannot appreciate. They love much because they have been forgiven much. Having been partakers of Christ's sufferings, they are fitted to be partakers with Him of His glory. – Desires of Ages, 649-50.
