용서를 위한 기도는 항상 즉시 응답된다

 

우리가 세상의 축복을 위하여 기도할 때

우리의 기도에 대한 응답은 지체될 수도 있고 혹은

하나님께서 우리가 구하는 것 아닌 다른 어떤 것을 우리에게 주실 수도 있으나

우리가 죄로부터의 구원을 간구할 때에는 그렇지 않다.

우리를 죄에서 깨끗게 하셔서

그의 자녀로 삼으시고 거룩한 생애를 살 수 있도록 하시는 것이 그의 뜻이다.

 

“그리스도께서 하나님 곧 우리 아버지의 뜻을 따라 이 악한 세대에서 우리를 건지시려고

우리 죄를 위하여 자기 몸을 드리셨”(갈 1:4)다. 그리고

 

“그를 향하여 우리의 가진 바 담대한 것이 이것이니 그의 뜻대로 무엇을 구하면 들으심이라

우리가 무엇이든지 구하는 바를 들으시는 줄을 안즉

우리가 그에게 구한 그것을 얻은 줄을 또한 아느니라”(요일 5:14, 15).

 

“만일 우리가 우리 죄를 자백하면 저는 미쁘시고 의로우사

우리 죄를 사하시며 모든 불의에서 우리를 깨끗케 하실 것이요”(요일 1:9).

 

하나님의 자녀가 시은좌 앞에 나아가자마자 그는 위대한 옹호자의 고객이 된다.

마치 자신의 요구인 양 아버지께 드린다.

 

그대의 소원을 진지한 자세로 예수님께 말하라.

그대는 하나님과 오랫동안 논쟁하거나 그분께 설교해야 할 필요가 없다.

다만 자신의 죄에 대하여 슬퍼하는 마음으로

“주님 저를 구원하소서, 그렇지 않으면 저는 멸망합니다”라고 말하라.

그러한 영혼에게는 소망이 있다.

그들은 찾고, 구하며, 문을 두드리고, 발견하게 될 것이다.

예수께서 영혼을 짓누르는 죄의 짐을 가져가 버리실 때,

그대는 그리스도의 평강의 축복을 경험할 것이다.

 

 

The Prayer for Forgiveness Is Always Answered Immediately

When we pray for earthly blessings, the answer to our prayer may be delayed, or God may give us something other than we ask, but not so when we ask for deliverance from sin. It is His will to cleanse us from sin, to make us His children, and to enable us to live a holy life. Christ “gave Himself for our sins, that He might deliver us from this present evil world, according to the will of God and our Father.” Galatians 1:4. And “this is the confidence that we have in Him, that, if we ask anything according to His will, He heareth us: and if we know that He hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of Him.” 1 John 5:14, 15. “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” 1 John 1:9.—(The Desire of Ages, 266.)

No sooner does the child of God approach the mercy seat than he becomes the client of the great Advocate. At his first utterance of penitence and appeal for pardon Christ espouses his case and makes it His own, presenting the supplication before His Father as His own request.—(Testimonies for the Church 6:364.)

Tell Jesus your wants in the sincerity of your soul. You are not required to hold a long controversy with, or preach a sermon to, God, but with a heart of sorrow for your sins, say, “Save me, Lord, or I perish.” There is hope for such souls. They will seek, they will ask, they will knock, and they will find. When Jesus has taken away the burden of sin that is crushing the soul, you will experience the blessedness of the peace of Christ.—(Our High Calling, 131.)
