천연치료제에 대해 확신을 배양할 것

병자들은 하나님이 준비하신 자연의 위대한 축복을 신뢰하도록 교육받아야 한다. 그리고 질병을 위한 가장 효과적인 치료제는 깨끗한 연수, 환자들의 병 속으로 들어오는, 하나님이 축복으로 주신 햇빛, 되도록 옥외에서 사는 것, 건강에 유익한 운동을 하는 것, 매우 건강한 방식으로 준비된 음식을 먹고 마시는 것 등이다.… 담배의 독소 때문에 많은 사람이 괴로움을 겪고 있다.…의사들은, 만일 초보자가 아니라면 결과에서 진정한 원인을 추적할 수 있을 것이나, 담배의 사용을 감히 금지하지 못할 것이다. 왜냐하면 그 자신도 거기에 빠져 있기 때문이다. 어떤 이들은 우유부단하게 중간적 입장을 취하여 이런 마약을 줄이라고 충고하지만, 그들은 “이 습관이 그대를 죽이고 있습니다.”라고 말하지 않는다. 그들은 부자연스러운 식욕에 방종한 결과로 생긴 질병을 치료하기 위해 약품을 처방하고, 한 가지가 제거되는 대신에 두 가지 해악이 발생한다.

수천 명이 인내와 친절과 부드러움으로 그러나 단호하게 교육될 필요가 있다. 그들의 불평의 십 분의 구는 그들 스스로의 행동 방식에서 초래 되었다.…

단순한 방법으로 질병과 싸우라—우리 백성을 독성이 있는 약품의 도움 없이 질병을 치료하는 법에 대해서 알아야 한다. 많은 사람은 가장 단순한 방법으로 다양한 형태의 질병들과 싸울 수 있게 하는 교육을 받고자 노력해야 한다. 수천 명이 유독 약품들을 사용함으로 무덤으로 내려갔는데, 그들은 단순한 치료법을 통해서 건강을 되찾을 수 있었다. 수치료는 지혜롭게 기술적으로 사용한다면 많은 생명을 구하는 수단이 될 것이다.

열성적인 연구와 조심스러운 치료가 결합해야 한다. 환자의 병상에서 믿음의 기도를 드려야 한다. 스스로 하나님의 약속을 주장하도록 환자들을 격려해야 한다. “믿음은 바라는 것들의 실상이요보지 못하는 것들의 증거니.” 인류의 구주이신 그리스도 예수가 우리의 수고와 회의 속에 더욱 많이 들어오실 수 있게 해야 한다.-MS 15, 1911.

Confidence in Nature’s Remedies to be Cultivated

The sick should be educated to have confidence in nature’s great blessings which God has provided; and the most effective remedies for disease are pure soft water, the blessed God-given sunshine coming into the rooms of the invalids, living outdoors as much as possible, having healthful exercise, eating and drinking foods that are prepared in the most healthful manner....

There are many, many afflicted in our world with tobacco poison.... The physician, if he is not a novice, can trace the effects back to the true cause, but he dares not forbid its use, because he indulges in it himself. Some will in an undecided, halfway manner advise the tobacco users to take less of this narcotic; but they do not say to them, This habit is killing you. They prescribe drugs to cure a disease which is the result of indulging unnatural appetites, and two evils are produced in the place of removing one.

Thousands need to be educated patiently, kindly, tenderly, but decidedly, that nine tenths of their complaints are created by their own course of action....

Combat Disease by Simple Methods—Our people should become intelligent in the treatment of sickness without the aid of poisonous drugs. Many should seek to obtain the education that will enable them to combat disease in its varied forms by the most simple methods. Thousands have gone down to the grave because of the use of poisonous drugs, who might have been restored to health by simple methods of treatment. Water treatments, wisely and skillfully given, may be the means of saving many lives.

Let diligent study be united with careful treatments. Let prayers of faith be offered by the bedside of the sick. Let the sick be encouraged to claim the promises of God for themselves. “Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen,” Christ Jesus, the Saviour of men, is to be brought into our labors and councils more and more.— Manuscript 15, 1911.
