그분께서 친히 재정을 준비하실 것이다

그리스도의 나라를 건설하는 일은 겉으로 보기에는 진척이 느리고 또 그 진보를 증명하기가 불가능한 것처럼 보일지라도 앞으로 나아갈 것이다. 그 사업은 하나님의 사업이므로 그분께서 재정을 공급하고, 조력자들 곧 참되고 열심 있는 제자들을 보내실 것이다. 그들의 손 역시 굶주린 군중을 먹일 양식으로 가득 차게 될 것이다. 하나님께서는 죽어가는 영혼들에게 생명의 말씀을 전하기 위하여 사랑으로 활동하는 자들, 다른 배고픈 영혼들을 먹일 양식을 얻기 위하여 차례대로 저희 손을 내미는 자들에게 무관심하지 않으신다...

그대의 마음속에 “우리가 어디서 떡을 사서 이 사람들로 먹게 하겠느냐”는 질문이 와 닿을 때 그대의 대답이 불신의 반응이 되지 않게 하라. 제자들은 “너희가 먹을 것을 주라”는 구주의 분부를 들었을 때에 온갖 난관들이 그들의 마음에 떠올랐다. 그들은 “우리가 양식을 사러 마을에 나갈 것인가?” 하고 질문했다. 그와 같이 오늘날에도 사람들이 생명의 떡에 굶주리고 있을 때 주님의 자녀들은 “우리가 멀리 있는 어떤 사람을 초청하여 와서 이들을 먹이게 할 것인가”라고 질문한다. 그러나 그리스도께서는 무엇이라고 말씀하셨는가? “이 사람들로 앉게 하라”고 하신 후 거기에서 그들을 먹이셨다. 그와 같이 그대가 곤궁한 영혼들에게 둘려 있을 때에는 그리스도가 거기 계신 줄을 알라. 그분과 더불어 교통하라. 그대의 보리떡을 예수께 가져가라.

우리가 가진 재정이 사업을 하기에 충분하지 않은 것처럼 생각될지라도 전능하신 하나님의 능력을 믿고 믿음으로 전진하면 풍성한 원천이 우리 앞에 공개될 것이다. 그 사업이 하나님께 속한 것이면 그 일을 성취시키기 위하여 그분께서 친히 재정을 준비하실 것이다. 그분께서는 당신을 정직하고 단순하게 의뢰하는 자에게 보답해 주실 것이다. 하늘에 계신 주님의 사업에 현명하고 경제적으로 사용된 적은 물질은 나눠 주는 바로 그 행위를 통하여 증가할 것이다. 그리스도의 수중에 있던 소량의 양식은 굶주린 군중이 배부르기까지 감소되지 않고 남아 있었다. 우리가 받기 위하여 믿음의 손을 내밀고 모든 능력의 근원되시는 분께 나아갈 때에 우리는 가장 절망적인 환경 아래서도 사업을 계속 유지할 수 있을 것이며 남에게 생명의 떡을 주게 될 것이다. – 시대의 소망, 370-1.

God Himself Will Provide the Means

The work of building up the kingdom of Christ will go forward, though to all appearance it moves slowly and impossibilities seem to testify against advance. The work is of God, and He will furnish means, and will send helpers, true, earnest disciples, whose hands also will be filled with food for the starving multitude. God is not unmindful of those who labor in love to give the word of life to perishing souls, who in their turn reach forth their hands for food for other hungry souls…

When the question comes home to your heart, "Whence shall we buy bread, that these may eat?" let not your answer be the response of unbelief. When the disciples heard the Saviour's direction, "Give ye them to eat," all the difficulties arose in their minds. They questioned, Shall we go away into the villages to buy food? So now, when the people are destitute of the bread of life, the Lord's children question, Shall we send for someone from afar, to come and feed them? But what said Christ? "Make the men sit down," and He fed them there. So when you are surrounded by souls in need, know that Christ is there. Commune with Him. Bring your barley loaves to Jesus.

The means in our possession may not seem to be sufficient for the work; but if we will move forward in faith, believing in the all-sufficient power of God, abundant resources will open before us. If the work be of God, He Himself will provide the means for its accomplishment. He will reward honest, simple reliance upon Him. The little that is wisely and economically used in the service of the Lord of heaven will increase in the very act of imparting. In the hand of Christ the small supply of food remained undiminished until the famished multitude were satisfied. If we go to the Source of all strength, with our hands of faith outstretched to receive, we shall be sustained in our work, even under the most forbidding circumstances, and shall be enabled to give to others the bread of life. – Desires of Ages, 370-1.
