악에 대한 유일한 방어

 

영혼이 그리스도께 굴복할 때에 새로운 능력이 새 마음을 점령한다.

사람이 독력으로 성취할 수 없는 변화가 일어난다.

그것은 인간의 본성에 초자연적인 요소를 가져다주는 불가사의한 역사이다.

그리스도께 굴복하는 영혼은 배역한 세상에서 그분께서 굳게 붙드시는 그분의 요새가 되며,

그분은 당신의 권위 외에 어떤 권위도 그 요새 안에 용납하지 않으신다.

이와 같이 하늘의 능력으로 채워진 영혼은 사단의 공격에 난공불락이다.

 

그러나 우리가 그리스도의 지배하심에 자신을 맡기지 않는다면 악한 자에게 지배당할 것이다.

우리는 불가불 세상의 패권을 잡으려고 싸우는 두 큰 세력 중에 전자가 아니면 후자의 지배 아래 있게 될 것이다. 흑암의 왕국의 통치를 받기 위하여 일부러 그것을 섬기기로 선택할 필요는 없다.

빛의 왕국과 관계를 맺는 일을 등한히 하기만 하면 된다.

우리가 하늘의 능력에 협력하지 않으면 사단이 마음을 점령하여 자신의 거처로 삼을 것이다.

 

악에 대한 유일의 방어는 그분의 의를 믿음으로써 그리스도께서 마음속에 내재하시는 것이다.

하나님과 산 연결을 맺지 않으면

우리는 결코 자아 사랑과 자아 방종과 죄에 대한 유혹의 부정한 영향에 대항할 수 없다.

 

우리는 많은 악습을 버릴 수 있을 것이며 얼마 동안은 사단과의 관계를 끊을 수 있을 것이다.

그러나 순간마다 자신을 굴복시킴으로 하나님과 산 연락을 가지지 않는다면

우리는 정복당할 것이다.

그리스도와 개인적으로 친숙하고 계속적으로 교통하지 않는다면

우리는 원수에게 좌우되어 마침내 그의 명령을 행할 것이다.

The only Defense Against Evil

 

When the soul surrenders itself to Christ, a new power takes possession of the new heart. A change is wrought which man can never accomplish for himself. It is a supernatural work, bringing a supernatural element into human nature. The soul that is yielded to Christ becomes His own fortress, which He holds in a revolted world, and He intends that no authority shall be known in it but His own. A soul thus kept in possession by the heavenly agencies is impregnable to the assaults of Satan.

But unless we do yield ourselves to the control of Christ, we shall be dominated by the wicked one. We must inevitably be under the control of the one or the other of the two great powers that are contending for the supremacy of the world. It is not necessary for us deliberately to choose the service of the kingdom of darkness in order to come under its dominion. We have only to neglect to ally ourselves with the kingdom of light. If we do not co-operate with the heavenly agencies, Satan will take possession of the heart, and will make it his abiding place.

The only defense against evil is the indwelling of Christ in the heart through faith in His righteousness. Unless we become vitally connected with God, we can never resist the unhallowed effects of self-love, self-indulgence, and temptation to sin. We may leave off many bad habits, for the time we may part company with Satan; but without a vital connection with God, through the surrender of ourselves to Him moment by moment, we shall be overcome. Without a personal acquaintance with Christ, and a continual communion, we are at the mercy of the enemy, and shall do his bidding in the end. - Desires of Ages, 324.
