너희는 세상의 빛이라

 

하나님께서는 “어두운 데서 빛이 비취”(고후 4:6)게 하신다.

“땅이 혼돈하고 공허하며 흑암이 깊음 위에 있을” 때에 “하나님의 신이 수면에 운행하시니라.

하나님이 가라사대 빛이 있으라 하시매 빛이 있었”(창 1:2, 3)다.

 

그처럼 영적 흑암의 밤에 하나님의 말씀은 “빛이 있으라”고 하신다.

하나님께서는 당신의 백성들에게 말씀하시기를 “일어나라 빛를 발하라.

이는 네 빛이 이르렀고 여호와의 영광이 네 위에 임하였음이니라”(사 60:1)고 하신다.

 

성경은 이렇게 말한다.

“보라 어둠이 땅을 덮을 것이며 캄캄함이 만민을 가리우려니와

오직 여호와께서 네 위에 임하실 것이며, 그 영광이 네 위에 나타나리”(사 60:2)라.

 

아버지의 영광의 빛이신 그리스도께서는 세상의 빛으로서 세상에 오셨다.

그리스도께서는 하나님을 사람들에게 나타내시려 오셨고, 그는

“성령과 능력으로” 기름부음을 받아 “두루 다니시며 착한 일을 행”(행 10:38)하시리라고 기록되어 있다.

 

그리스도께서는 나사렛에 있는 회당에서

“주의 성령이 내게 임하셨으니 이는 가난한 자에게 복음을 전하게 하시려고 내게 기름을 부으시고

나를 보내사 포로된 자에게 자유를, 눈먼 자에게 다시 보게 함을 전파하며

눌린 자를 자유케 하고 주의 은혜의 해를 전파하게 하려 하심이라”(눅 4:18, 19)고 말씀하셨다.

 

이것이 바로 그리스도께서 당신의 제자들에게 하도록 명하신 사업이다.

그리스도께서는 “너희는 세상의 빛이라”, “이같이 너희 빛을 사람 앞에 비취게 하여

저희로 너희 착한 행실을 보고 하늘에 계신 너희 아버지께 영광을 돌리게 하라”(마 5:14, 16)고 말씀하셨다.

 

 

You are the Light of the World

 

 

He causes "the light to shine out of darkness." 2 Corinthians 4:6. When "the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep," "the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. And God said, Let there be light: and there was light." Genesis 1:2, 3. So in the night of spiritual darkness, God's word goes forth, "Let there be light." To His people He says, "Arise, shine; for thy light is come, and the glory of the Lord is risen upon thee." Isaiah 60:1.

"Behold," says the Scripture, "the darkness shall cover the earth, and gross darkness the people: but the Lord shall arise upon thee, and His glory shall be seen upon thee." Verse 2. Christ, the outshining of the Father's glory, came to the world as its light. He came to represent God to men, and of Him it is written that He was anointed "with the Holy Ghost and with power," and "went about doing good." Acts 10:38. In the synagogue at Nazareth He said, "The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, because He hath anointed Me to preach the gospel to the poor; He hath sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, to preach the acceptable year of the Lord." Luke 4:18, 19. This was the work He commissioned His disciples to do. "Ye are the light of the world," He said. "Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven." Matthew 5:14, 16. – Prophets and Kings, 717-8.
