빛을 갈망하고 있는 남녀들을 찾아내려고 애씀

 

오늘날에 성행하고 있는 배도는 선지자 엘리야 당시에 이스라엘 백성들 사이에 널리 퍼졌던

그것과 동일하다.

오늘날의 군중들은 하나님보다 인간을 높이고 인기 있는 지도자들을 찬양한다.

그들은 또 재물을 숭배하고 계시의 진리보다 과학의 가르침을 높임으로 바알을 따르고 있다.

의심과 불신은 그들의 정신과 마음에 해로운 감화를 끼치고 있다.

많은 사람들은 하나님의 계시의 말씀을 인간의 학설로 대치하고 있다.

인간의 이성을 하나님의 말씀의 교훈보다 더 높여야 할 시대에 우리가 이르렀다고 공공연히 가르치고 있다. 의의 거룩한 표준인 하나님의 율법은 효력이 없다고 선포되고 있다.

모든 진리의 원수는 기만적 능력을 가지고 남녀들로 하여금 하나님이 계셔야 할 자리에 인간의 제도를 두고, 인류의 행복과 구원을 위하여 제정된 제도를 잊어버리도록 하기 위하여

그의 기만적인 능력을 행사하고 있다.

 

그러나 이 배도가 널리 퍼지긴 했지만 전 세계적인 것은 아니다.

세상의 모든 사람들이 다 불법적이고 죄악적인 것은 아니며 모두가 다 원수의 편에 가담한 것도 아니다.

하나님께서는 바알에게 무릎을 꿇지 아니한 수많은 사람을 가지고 계시며

그리스도와 율법에 관하여 더욱 충분히 깨닫기를 갈망하는 사람들과

예수께서는 속히 오셔서 죄와 죽음의 지배를 끝내실 것이라는 희망을 버리지 않은 많은 사람들을

가지고 계신다.

 

그리고 알지 못하고 바알을 예배하는 많은 사람들이 있으며

이들을 위하여 하나님의 성령께서는 아직도 애를 쓰고 계신다.

 

이런 사람들은 하나님과 그의 말씀의 능력을 미리 배워 아는 사람들의 개인적인 도움이 필요하다.

이와 같은 시대에 사는 하나님의 모든 자녀들은 적극적으로 다른 사람들을 돕는 일에 종사하여야 한다.

성경의 진리를 알고 있는 자들이 빛을 갈망하고 있는 남녀들을 찾아내려고 애쓸 때에

하나님의 천사들이 그들과 함께 할 것이다.

천사들이 가는 곳에는 아무도 전진하기를 두려워할 필요가 없다.

헌신한 일꾼들의 성실한 노력의 결과로써

많은 사람들이 우상숭배를 버리고 살아 계신 하나님을 섬기게 될 것이다.

많은 사람들이 사람이 만든 제도에 충성하기를 그치고 두려움 없이 하나님과 그의 율법의 편에 설 것이다.

 

 

 

 

Try to Seek Out the Men and Women Who are Longing for Light

 

 

The apostasy prevailing today is similar to that which in the prophet's day overspread Israel. In the exaltation of the human above the divine, in the praise of popular leaders, in the worship of mammon, and in the placing of the teachings of science above the truths of revelation, multitudes today are following after Baal. Doubt and unbelief are exercising their baleful influence over mind and heart, and many are substituting for the oracles of God the theories of men. It is publicly taught that we have reached a time when human reason should be exalted above the teachings of the Word. The law of God, the divine standard of righteousness, is declared to be of no effect. The enemy of all truth is working with deceptive power to cause men and women to place human institutions where God should be, and to forget that which was ordained for the happiness and salvation of mankind.

Yet this apostasy, widespread as it has come to be, is not universal. Not all in the world are lawless and sinful; not all have taken sides with the enemy. God has many thousands who have not bowed the knee to Baal, many who long to understand more fully in regard to Christ and the law, many who are hoping against hope that Jesus will come soon to end the reign of sin and death. And there are many who have been worshiping Baal ignorantly, but with whom the Spirit of God is still striving.

These need the personal help of those who have learned to know God and the power of His word. In such a time as this, every child of God should be actively engaged in helping others. As those who have an understanding of Bible truth try to seek out the men and women who are longing for light, angels of God will attend them. And where angels go, none need fear to move forward. As a result of the faithful efforts of consecrated workers, many will be turned from idolatry to the worship of the living God. Many will cease to pay homage to man-made institutions and will take their stand fearlessly on the side of God and His law. – Prophets and Kings, 170-1.
