불순한 것들을 읽고 보고 듣는 일을 피하라

 

사단의 간계에 빠지기를 원치 않는 사람들은

영혼의 통로를 잘 지켜 불순한 생각을 일으킬 것은 읽거나 보거나 듣지 않아야 한다.

마음은 영혼의 원수가 제시하는 모든 주제들을 닥치는 대로 생각하도록 내버려 두어서는 안 된다.

마음은 충실히 지켜야 한다.

그렇지 않으면 밖에 있는 악이 속에 있는 악을 일깨워 영혼은 어둠 가운데서 방황할 것이다.

 

그대가 그대의 마음을 지배하여 쓸데없는 부패한 사상이 그대의 영혼을 더럽히지 못하게 하기를 원한다면, 그대는 눈과 그 밖의 모든 감각을 감시하는 신실한 감시병이 되지 않으면 안 될 것이다.

은혜의 능력만이 가장 바람직한 이 사업을 성취할 수 있다.

 

 

Avoid Reading, Seeing, and Hearing Impurity

 

 

Those who would not fall a prey to Satan's devices must guard well the avenues of the soul; they must avoid reading, seeing, or hearing that which will suggest impure thoughts. The mind must not be left to dwell at random upon every subject that the enemy of souls may suggest. The heart must be faithfully sentineled, or evils without will awaken evils within, and the soul will wander in darkness.-The Acts of the Apostles, 518 (1911).

You will have to become a faithful sentinel over your eyes, ears, and all your senses if you would control your mind and prevent vain and corrupt thoughts from staining your soul. The power of grace alone can accomplish this most desirable work.-Testimonies for the Church 2:561 (1870).
