하나님이 낮추시고 높이신다

자신의 사업이 인정을 받지 못한다고 생각하는 사람,

더욱 큰 책임을 맡고자 갈망하는 사람들은

“대저 높이는 일이 동에서나 서에서 말미암지 아니하며 남에서 말미암지 아니하고,

오직 재판장이신 하나님이 이를 낮추시고 이를 높이시느니라”(시 75:6, 7)는 말씀을

기억하라. 모든 사람은 하나님의 영원한 계획 안에 자신의 위치를 가지고 있다.

우리가 그 위치를 채우는 여부는 하나님과 협력하는 우리의 성실성에 달려있다.

 

우리는 자신을 동정하는 일을 경계할 필요가 있다.

그대가 마땅히 받을 만큼 평가를 받지 못하고, 그대의 노력이 인정받지 못하고,

그대의 사업이 너무 어렵다는 등의 생각을 결코 갖지 말라.

그리스도께서 우리를 위하여 참으신 것을 생각하고, 불평하는 생각을 일체 버려라.

우리는 우리 주님께서 받으신 것보다 더욱 좋은 대접을 받고 있다.

 

“네가 너를 위하여 대사를 경영하느냐, 그것을 경영하지 말라”(렘 45:5).

주님께서는 십자가를 지는 것보다 면류관을 얻고자 더욱 갈망하는 자들을 위하여

당신의 사업에 자리를 마련해 두지 않으셨다.

그분께서는 보수를 받는 것보다 의무를 다하고자 더욱 노력하는 사람들,

곧 승진을 위하여서보다 원칙을 위하여 더욱 큰 열심을 가진 사람들을 원하신다.

God put down one, and set up another

Let those who feel that their work is not appreciated, and who crave a position of greater responsibility, consider that "promotion cometh neither from the east, nor from the west, nor from the south. But God is the Judge: He putteth down one, and setteth up another." Psalm 75:6, 7. Every man has his place in the eternal plan of heaven. Whether we fill that place depends upon our own faithfulness in co-operating with God.

We need to beware of self-pity. Never indulge the feeling that you are not esteemed as you should be, that your efforts are not appreciated, that your work is too difficult. Let the memory of what Christ has endured for us silence every murmuring thought. We are treated better than was our Lord. "Seekest thou great things for thyself? seek them not." Jeremiah 45:5. The Lord has no place in His work for those who have a greater desire to win the crown than to bear the cross. He wants men who are more intent upon doing their duty than upon receiving their reward--men who are more solicitous for principle than for promotion. - Ministry of Healing, 476-7.
