사도들이 예수께 모여 자기들이 행한 것과 가르친 것을 낱낱이 고하니, 이르시되,

- 너희는 따로 한적한 곳에 가서 잠깐 쉬어라.

하시니, 이는 오고가는 사람이 많아 음식먹을 겨를도 없음이라.

이에 배를 타고 따로 한적한 곳에 갈새,

 

 

SLACK TIDE

He said to them,　“Come aside by　yourselves to a　deserted place and　rest a while.”　-Mark 6:31

I fi-nd it fascinating to consider the pull of the moon on our great oceans, which creates high and low tides. At the changing of the tide, there is a brief period of time called “slack tide” when the water is neither high nor low. According to scientists, this is when the water is “unstressed.” It is a quiet pause before the surging of tidal flow begins again. Sometimes in our busy schedules we may feel pulled in different directions by competing responsibilities. In Jesus’ ministry, we see how He understood the demands made on His followers and the need for rest. Returning from a traveling ministry in teams of two, the Twelve reported the wonderful things that God had done through them (Mark 6:7-13,30). But Jesus responded: “ ‘Come aside by yourselves to a deserted place and rest a while.’ For there were many coming and going, and they did not even have time to eat. So they departed to a deserted place in the boat by themselves” (vv.31-32). What responsibilities are pulling on you today? It is certainly acceptable to plan some rest and relaxation time to rejuvenate your body and soul for more fruitful service to others. Jesus advised it, and we all need it. Spending quiet time with God can bring quiet rest from God. 휴조 이르시되 너희는 따로 한적한 곳에 와서 잠깐 쉬어라 하시니-마가복음 6:31 달의 인력이 우리 바다에 작용하여 밀물과 썰물이 생기는 것을 생각해보면 아주 흥미롭습니다. 조류가 변할 때에 밀물도 썰물도 아닌 “휴조”라고 불리는 때가 잠시 있습니다. 과학자들에 따르면 이 시간은 물이 “아무 힘도 받지 않는” 때이며, 큰 파도의 조류가 다시 시작되기 전의 조용한 정지상태입니다. 우리도 때로는 바쁜 일과 중에 여러 가지 해야 할 일들이 우리를 여러 방향으로 끌어당기는 것처럼 느낄 수 있습니다. 예수님의 사역을 보면, 제자들에게 부담된 많은 일과 그에 따른 휴식의 필요성을 예수님이 어떻게 이해하셨는가를 알 수 있습니다. 두 명씩 짝을 지어 전도 여행을 다녀온 후, 열두 사도들은 그들을 통해 하나님이 행하신 놀라운 일들을 보고했습니다(막 6:7-13, 30). 하지만 예수님은 “오고 가는 사람이 많아 음식 먹을 겨를도 없으니 너희는 따로 한적한 곳에 와서 잠깐 쉬어라”라고 말씀하셨고, “이에 그들은 배를 타고 따로 한적한 곳에 갔습니다”(31-32절). 어떤 의무가 오늘 당신을 끌어당기고 있습니까? 다른 사람들을 더 알차게 섬기기 위해서 몸과 영혼을 다시 활기 있게 해줄 쉼과 휴식의 시간을 계획하는 것은 아주 괜찮은 일입니다. 예수님도 그렇게 권고하셨고, 우리 모두에게 필요한 일입니다. 주님이 거기서 당신을 만나주실 것입니다. 내 필요를 아시는 주님이 내 목자이시니 내게 복이 넘치네 조용한 물가에서, 푸른 초장에서 나를 이끄시고 쉬게 하시네 하나님과 경건의 시간을 가지면 하나님께로부터 고요한 휴식을 얻을 수 있다.
