그대들은 다른 사람의 마음속은 읽을 수가 없다는 것을 기억해야 한다.

잘못된 것같이 보이는 행동을 불러일으키는 동기가 무엇인지 그대는 알 수 없다.

 

올바른 교육을 받지 못한 사람들이 많다.

그들의 성품은 뒤틀어지고 굳고 옹이투성이며, 모든 면에 비뚤어져 보인다.

 

그러나 그리스도의 은혜가 그들을 변화시킬 수 있다.

그러므로 무슨 일이 있더라도 그들을 배척한다든지,

"당신 때문에 난 실망을 했습니다. 이제는 당신을 도울 마음이 없습니다."하고 말함으로써

그들을 낙담시키거나 용기를 잃게 해서는 안 된다.

 

그들이 들어 마땅하다고 생각되는 몇 마디 말을 화가 나서 성급하게 말함으로써

그들의 마음을 우리 마음에 붙들어 맬 감화의 끈이 끊어져 버릴 수도 있다.

 

일관된 견실한 생활, 끈기 있는 인내, 도발을 받고도 요동하지 않는 정신은

항상 가장 결정적인 논증이며 가장 엄숙한 호소이다.

 

다른 사람들이 갖지 못한 기회와 유리함을 여러분이 누렸다고 한다면,

이 사실을 숙고하고 언제나 현명하고 주의 깊으며 온화한 교사가 되라.

🌻Aroma of Life | We Cannot Read Motives🌻

 

Remember that you cannot read hearts. You do not know the motives which prompted the actions that to you look wrong.

 

There are many who have not received a right education; their characters are warped, they are hard and gnarled and seem to be crooked in every way.

 

But the grace of Christ can transform them. Never cast them aside, never drive them to discouragement or despair by saying, "You have disappointed me, and I will not try to help you."

 

A few words spoken hastily under provocation--just what we think they deserve--may cut the cords of influence that should have bound their hearts to ours.

 

The consistent life, the patient forbearance, the spirit unruffled under provocation, is always the most conclusive argument and the most solemn appeal.

 

If you have had opportunities and advantages that have not fallen to the lot of others, consider this and be ever a wise, careful, gentle teacher.
