하나님의 말씀에서 얻는 힘

성경은 그리스도 안에 있는 하나님의 영광의 계시이다.

그것을 받아들이고, 믿고, 순종하면 그것이 품성의 변화에 큰 역할을 해준다.

그것은 육체적, 정신적, 영적 힘을 일깨워 주고 생애를 올바른 방향으로 지도해 주는 큰 자극제요 힘이 된다.

젊은이들이, 심지어 장년들까지라도 너무도 쉽게 유혹과 죄에 빠지는 이유는

그들이 마땅히 해야 할 만큼 하나님의 말씀을 연구하지 않고 그것을 명상하지 않기 때문이다.

생애와 품성에 나타나는 확고하고 결정적인 의지력의 결핍은 하나님의 말씀의 교훈을 등한히 한 결과이다.

그들은 거룩하고 순결한 사상을 고취시켜 주는 데로 마음을 기울어지게 하지 않을 뿐더러

불순하고 진실하지 못한 것에서 마음을 분리시키고자 열렬한 노력을 하지 않는다.

마리아처럼 예수님의 발 아래 앉아서 거룩한 교사를 알고자 좋은 편을 택하는 사람들은 별로 없다.

그분의 말씀을 마음에 간직하고 그 말씀을 생애에 실천하는 사람은 별로 없다.

성경의 진리를 받아들일 때, 정신과 심령이 고상해질 것이다.

하나님의 말씀을 마땅히 분별해야 할 만큼 올바르게 분별하기만 하면,

노소를 막론하고 유혹을 저항할 수 있는 강직한 마음, 곧 힘 있는 원칙을 소유하게 될 것이다.

The Power Received Through God’s Word

The whole Bible is a revelation of the glory of God in Christ. Received, believed, obeyed, it is the great instrumentality in the transformation of character.

It is the grand stimulus, the constraining force, that quickens the physical, mental, and spiritual powers, and directs the life into right channels.

The reason why the youth, and even those of mature years, are so easily led into temptation and sin, is that they do not study the word of God and meditate upon it as they should.

The lack of firm, decided will power, which is manifest in life and character, results from neglect of the sacred instruction of God’s word.

They do not by earnest effort direct the mind to that which would inspire pure, holy thought and divert it from that which is impure and untrue.

There are few who choose the better part, who sit at the feet of Jesus, as did Mary, to learn of the divine Teacher. Few treasure His words in the heart and practice them in the life.

The truths of the Bible, received, will uplift mind and soul. If the word of God were appreciated as it should be, both young and old would possess an inward rectitude, a strength of principle, that would enable them to resist temptation.
