“믿음으로 에녹은 죽음을 보지 않고 옮기웠으니 하나님이 저를 옮기심으로 다시 보이지 아니하니라

저는 옮기우기 전에 하나님을 기쁘시게 하는 자라 하는 증거를 받았느니라” (히 11:5).

감정으로가 아니요 믿음으로 행하기를 배워야만

우리가 도움이 필요한 때에 바로 하나님께로부터 도움을 받게 되겠고

그분의 평강이 우리의 마음속에 들어오게 될 것이다.

에녹이 산 생애는 이와 같은 순종과 신뢰의 단순한 생애였다.

만일 우리가 이런 단순한 신뢰의 공과를 배운다면 우리의 생애는 받으신바 되고

하나님을 기쁘시게 하는 증거가 될 것이다. 

누구나, 하나님의 말씀을 가지고 있는 사람은

어떠한 경우를 당하더라도 그가 원하는 동반자와 같이하는 경험을 하게 된다.

성경의 각 페이지에서, 그는 인류의 가장 고상하고 훌륭한 사람들과 더불어 교제하며

하나님께서 인류에게 말씀하시는 영원한 음성을 들을 수가 있다. …

이러한 사람은 세상에 있으나 하늘의 분위기 속에서 살며,

슬픔과 유혹에 처한 사람들에게 희망과 성결을 사모하는 마음을 나눠 주고 …
마치 옛적에 하나님과 함께 동행한 사람들처럼 더욱 더 영원한 세계에 가까이 이르러 살다가,

하늘 문이 열릴 때에 그리로 들어갈 수 있는 이들이다.

그때, 순례자의 생활은 끝이 나고, 그들은 이제 더 이상 나그네가 아님을 알게 된다.

그들에게 인사하는 목소리는, 땅 위에 살 때에 보이지는 아니하였으나

동행한 거룩한 이들의 소리로, 이제 여기서는 누구의 소리인지 능히 분별하고 사랑할 수 있는 것이다.
하나님의 말씀을 통해서 그분과 교제하며 살아온 이들은 하늘 본향에서 그분과의 교제에 참여하게 될 것이다.

An Open Door

""By faith Enoch was translated that he should not see death; and was not found, because God had translated him: for before his translation he had this testimony, that he pleased God."  Hebrews 11:5. 

When we learn to walk by faith and not by feeling, we shall have help from God just when we need it, and His peace will come into our hearts. It was this simple life of obedience and trust that Enoch lived.
If we learn this lesson of simple trust, ours may be the testimony that he received, that he pleased God.

With the word of God in his hands, every human being, wherever his lot in life may be cast, may have such companionship as he shall choose.

In its pages he may hold converse with the noblest and best of the human race, and may listen to the voice of the Eternal as He speaks with men....

He may dwell in this world in the atmosphere of heaven, imparting to earth’s sorrowing and tempted ones thoughts of hope and longings for holiness; ... like him of old who walked with God, drawing nearer and nearer the threshold of the eternal world, until the portals shall open, and he shall enter there. He will find himself no stranger.

The voices that will greet him are the voices of the holy ones, who, unseen, were on earth his companions—voices that here he learned to distinguish and to love.
He who through the word of God has lived in fellowship with heaven, will find himself at home in heaven’s companionship.
