기도하는 마음으로 연구할 것

우리는 성경을 연구하는 일에 전심 전력을 다하여,

하나님께 속한 깊은 사물들을 인간이 할 수 있는 데까지 이해하기 위하여 노력하지 않으면 안 된다. 
그러나, 어린아이들과 같은 배우려는 태도와 유순한 정신이

배우는 사람의 진정한 정신적 자세라는 것을 잊어버려서는 안 된다. . .

우리는 위대하신 “영원 자존자(永遠自存者)”로부터 지식을 얻으려는

겸손하고 온순한 정신으로 나아가야 한다.

그렇지 않을 때에는, 악한 천사들이 우리의 정신을 어둡게 하고 우리의 마음을 굳어지게 하므로,

우리는 진리에서부터 아무런 감명을 받지 못하게 되고 말 것이다.

결코 기도없이 성경을 연구하여서는 안 된다. 
성령께서만 우리에게 이해하기 쉬운 사물들의 중요성을 느끼게 하시며

이해하기 어려운 진리를 곡해하는 일을 방지하여 주실 수가 있다. 

하나님의 말씀을 이해하도록 마음을 준비시켜서

하나님의 말씀의 아름다움에 매력을 느끼게 하고, 그 경고에서 권고를 받으며,

그 약속에서 활기와 힘을 얻도록 하여 주는 것이 하늘 천사들의 직분이다...

기도와 성경 연구를 등한히 한 결과로 시험을 받는 사람은

하나님의 약속들을 쉽사리 기억하여 그 성경 무기로써 사탄에게 대적할 수가 없기 때문에,

유혹들이 흔히 견디기 어려운 것 같이 여겨지는 것이다. 

그러나, 천사들은 하나님께 속한 사물들을 즐겨 배우려는 사람들 주위에 둘러서 있다.

그리하여, 크게 어려운 때가 생기면

필요한 진리, 바로 그것을 그들의 기억에 불러일으켜 되살아나도록 하여 준다.

?IAroma of LifeI Prayerful Study?

We should exert all the powers of the mind in the study of the Scriptures, and should task the understanding to comprehend, as far as mortals can, the deep things of God;
yet we must not forget that the docility and submission of a child is the true spirit of the learner. . .

We must come with a humble and teachable spirit to obtain knowledge from the great I AM. Otherwise, evil angels will so blind our minds and harden our hearts that we shall not be impressed by the truth. 

The Bible should never be studied without prayer. The Holy Spirit alone can cause us to feel the importance of those things easy to be understood, or prevent us from wresting truths difficult of comprehension. 

It is the office of heavenly angels to prepare the heart so to comprehend God’s word that we shall be charmed with its beauty, admonished by its warnings, or animated and strengthened by its promises. . .

Temptations often appear irresistible because, through neglect of prayer and the study of the Bible, the tempted one cannot readily remember God’s promises and meet Satan with the Scripture weapons. 

But angels are round about those who are willing to be taught in divine things; and in the time of great necessity, they will bring to their remembrance the very truths which are needed.
