감춰진 보화를 찾는 일에 성공하는 자

우리는 말씀을 열심히 연구하고 자세하게 살펴보아야 한다.

태만한 자는 결코 진리를 분명하고 명확하게 이해할 수 없다.

세속적 축복도 열심과 인내와 불굴의 노력이 없이는 얻을 수 없다.
사람이 자기 사업에 성공하려면

먼저 그 일을 하려는 의지가 있어야 하고 다음에 그 결과를 바라보는 믿음이 있어야 한다.

이와 마찬가지로 영적 지식도 열렬한 노력이 없이는 기대할 수 없다.

진리의 보화를 찾고자 하는 자들은

마치 광부가 땅속에 감춰진 보화를 찾기 위하여 땅을 파는 것처럼 진리의 말씀을 파야 한다.

무성의하고 무관심한 연구는 아무 소용이 없다.

노소를 막론하고 하나님의 말씀을 읽어야 할 뿐 아니라

감춰진 보화를 찾는 것처럼 전심을 다해 열렬히 기도하면서 진리를 찾아야 한다.

이렇게 하는 사람들은 그 대가를 받게 될 것인데

이는 그리스도께서 저희의 지각을 깨우쳐 주실 것이기 때문이다.

우리의 구원은 성경 안에 있는 진리를 아는 데 달려 있다.

우리가 이 진리를 갖는 것이 하나님의 뜻이다.

찾으라! 갈급하는 심령으로 보배로운 성경을 살펴보라.

마치 광부가 금광맥을 찾기 위하여 땅을 파듯이 하나님의 말씀을 탐구하라.

하나님께 대한 그대의 관계와 그대에 대한 하나님의 뜻이 무엇인지 확실히 알 때까지

탐구하는 일을 중단하지 말라.

그리스도께서는 “너희가 내 이름으로 무엇을 구하든지 내가 시행하리니

이는 아버지로 하여금 아들을 인하여 영광을 얻으시게 하려 함이라

내 이름으로 무엇이든지 내게 구하면 내가 시행하리라”(요 14:13, 14)고 말씀하셨다.

경건하고 재능이 있는 사람들이 영원한 사물을 보기는 하지만 종종 그것을 이해하는 데 실패하는 까닭은

눈에 보이는 것들이 보이지 않는 영광을 가리기 때문이다.

감춰진 보화를 찾는 일에 성공하고자 하면 그는 땅의 것보다 위의 것을 추구해야 한다.

그는 자기의 애정과 모든 재능을 오로지 이 보화를 찾는 일에 바쳐야 한다.

He Who Would Seek Successfully for the Hidden Treasure

There must be earnest study and close investigation. Sharp, clear perceptions of truth will never be the reward of indolence.

No earthy blessing can be obtained without earnest, patient, persevering effort. If men attain success in business, they must have a will to do and a faith to look for results.

And we cannot expect to gain spiritual knowledge without earnest toil. Those who desire to find the treasures of truth must dig for them as the miner digs for the treasure hidden in the earth.

No halfhearted, indifferent work will avail. It is essential for old and young, not only to read God’s word, but to study it with wholehearted earnestness, praying and searching for truth as for hidden treasure.

Those who do this will be rewarded, for Christ will quicken the understanding. 

Our salvation depends on a knowledge of the truth contained in the Scriptures. It is God’s will that we should possess this. Search, O search the precious Bible with hungry hearts. Explore God’s word as the miner explores the earth to find veins of gold.

Never give up the search until you have ascertained your relation to God and His will in regard to you.

Christ declared, “Whatsoever ye shall ask in My name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If ye shall ask anything in My name, I will do it.” John 14:13, 14.

Men of piety and talent catch views of eternal realities, but often they fail of understanding, because the things that are seen eclipse the glory of the unseen.

He who would seek successfully for the hidden treasure must rise to higher pursuits than the things of this world. His affections and all His capabilities must be consecrated to the search.
