전진하는 사업

성화는 전진하는 것이다.

베드로가 한 말 가운데 연속적인 계단이 제시되어 있다. 

“너희가 더욱 힘써 너희 믿음에 덕을, 덕에 지식을, 지식에 절제를, 절제에 인내를, 인내에 경건을,

경건에 형제 우애를, 형제 우애에 사랑을 공급하라.

이런 것이 너희에게 있어 흡족한즉

너희로 우리 주 예수 그리스도를 알기에 게으르지 않고 열매 없는 자가 되지 않게 하려니와”(벧후 1:5-8)...

 여기에 우리가 결코 실족하지 않을 확신을 주는 한 노정(路程)이 있다.

이와 같이 그리스도인적 은혜를 얻기 위하여 더하기 법의 계획에 따라 일하는 이들은

하나님께서 당신의성령의 선물을 그들에게 허락하시기 위하여 곱하기 법의 계획에 따라 역사하시리라는

확신을 갖게 된다. 

베드로는 보배로운 믿음을 가진 자들에게 편지하기를

“하나님과 우리 주 예수를 앎으로 은혜와 평강이 너희에게 더욱 많을지어다”(벧후 1:2)라고 했다.

하나님의 은혜로 땅에서 하늘에 이르는 더욱 빛나는 계단을 올라갈 수 있는 자는 누구든지 마침내

“영원한 희락을 띠고 기쁨과 즐거움”(사 35:10)을 가지고 그 문들을 통해서 하나님의 도성에 들어가게 된다.

 우리 구주께서는 우리에게 속한 모든 것을 요구하신다.

곧 그분은 우리의 가장 귀하고 가장 성결한 생각과 가장 순결하고 가장 열렬한 애정을 요구하신다. 

우리가 진정으로 신의 성품에 참여하는 자가 된다면

우리는 항상 그분을 찬양하는 마음을 품게 되고

우리의 입술로 그분을 찬양할 것이다.

우리의 유일한 안전책은

우리의 모든 것을 그분께 바치고 은혜와 진리를 아는 지식 가운데서 끊임없이 자라나는 것이다.

?IAroma of LifeI/ A Progressive Work?

 Sanctification is a progressive work. The successive steps are set before us in the words of Peter: 

“Giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge; and to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness; and to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity. For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ” (2 Peter 1:5-8)...

 Here is a course by which we may be assured that we shall never fall. Those who are thus working upon the plan of addition in obtaining the Christian graces have the assurance that God will work upon the plan of multiplication in granting them the gifts of His Spirit. 

Peter addresses those who obtained like precious faith: “Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord” (verse 2). By divine grace, all who will may climb the shining steps from earth to heaven, and at last, “with songs and everlasting joy” (Isaiah 35:10), enter through the gates into the city of God.

 Our Saviour claims all there is of us; He asks our first and holiest thoughts, our purest and most intense affection. 

If we are indeed partakers of the divine nature, His praise will be continually in our hearts and upon our lips. Our only safety is to surrender our all to Him and to be constantly growing in grace and in the knowledge of the truth.
