심령 가운데 있는 거룩한 원한

 “내가 너로 여자와 원수가 되게 하고 너의 후손도 여자의 후손과 원수가 되게 하리니

여자의 후손은 네 머리를 상하게 할 것이요 너는 그의 발꿈치를 상하게 할 것이니라 하시고” (창 3:15). 

하나님께서는 “원수가 되게 하”리라고 선포하셨다.

이 원한은 천성적으로 우리 마음에 품게 된 것이 아니요 초자연적으로 우리 마음에 넣어진 바 되었다. 
사람이 죄를 범하였을 때에 그의 성질은 악하여져서 사탄과 더불어 상반되지 아니하고 그와 일치되었다. 

거만한 횡령자는 천사들을 유혹한 것처럼 우리의 첫 부모를 유혹하는 데 성공하고서는

자기가 하나님의 정부를 대적하는 모든 일에 있어서 그들의 충절과 협력을 얻을 줄로 생각하였다.

그러나 여인의 후손이 뱀의 머리를 상하리라는 말을 사탄이 들었을 때

그는 비록 자기가 인간의 성질을 타락시키는 일에 성공했다 할지라도

하나님께서는 어떤 오묘한 방법으로써 인류로 하여금 그 잃어버린 권리를 회복시키며

그의 정복자를 대적하여 승리하게 할 수 있음을 알았다. 

사람의 마음속에 사탄에 대한 증오심을 일으키는 것은 그리스도께서 영혼속에 주입시키시는 은혜이다. 
이 은혜가 없이는 사람은 사탄의 포로 곧 그의 명령대로 행하고자 언제나 준비하고 있는 종이 될 것이다.

심령 속에 있는 그 새로운 원칙은 지금까지 화평스럽던 곳에 싸움을 일으킨다. 

그리스도께서 주시는 권능은 사람으로 폭군이요 횡령자인 그를 능히 대적할 수 있게 한다. 
누구든지 죄를 사랑하는 대신에 미워하고 마음을 지배하고 있는 정욕을 저항하고 정복하면

전적으로 하늘에서 온 원칙이 역사하고 있는 것이다. 

성령께서 끊임없이 인간에게 부어져야 한다.

그렇지 아니하면 그는 흑암의 세력과 싸울 아무런 의향도 갖지않게 된다.

그리스도께서 인간과 뱀 사이에 두신 원한을 받아들이지 않겠는가?…
우리는 내가 예수 그리스도의 능력으로 정복자가 되겠다고 말할 권리를 갖고 있다.

Divine Enmity in the Soul

And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel. Genesis 3:15.

God declares, “I will put enmity.” This enmity is supernaturally put, and not naturally entertained. 
When man sinned, his nature became evil, and he was in harmony, and not at variance, with Satan. 

The lofty usurper, having succeeded in seducing our first parents as he had seduced angels, counted on securing their allegiance and cooperation in all his enterprises against the government of Heaven.... 

But when Satan heard that the seed of the woman should bruise the serpent’s head, he knew that though he had succeeded in depraving human nature ... , yet by some mysterious process God would restore to man his lost power, and enable him to resist and overcome his conqueror. 

It is the grace that Christ implants in the soul that creates the enmity against Satan. 
Without this grace, man would continue the captive of Satan, a servant ever ready to do his bidding. 
The new principle in the soul creates conflict where hitherto had been peace. 


The power which Christ imparts, enables man to resist the tyrant and usurper.
Whenever a man is seen to abhor sin instead of loving it, when he resists and conquers those passions that have held sway within, there is seen the operation of a principle wholly from above. 

The Holy Spirit must be constantly imparted to man, or he has no disposition to contend against the powers of darkness. 

Shall we not accept the enmity which Christ has placed between man and the serpent? ... 
We have a right to say, In the strength of Jesus Christ I will be a conqueror.
