약속된 능력

하나님께서는 우리 스스로의 힘으로 우리 앞에 있는 사업을 하도록 요구하지 않으신다.

그분께서는 우리의 인간적인 수단으로 감당치 못할 모든 비상 사태를 위하여 하늘의 도움을 준비해 놓으셨다.

그분께서는 모든 곤경에서 도와주고, 우리의 소망과 확신을 굳게 해 주고, 우리의 정신을 계몽시키고

우리의 마음을 순결하게 하기 위하여 성령을 주신다.

십자가의 죽음 직전에 구주께서는 당신의 제자들에게 말씀하셨다.

“내가 너희를 고아와 같이 버려두지 아니하고.”

“내가 아버지께 구하겠으니 그가 또 다른 보혜사를 너희에게 주사 영원토록 너희와 함께 있게 하시리니.”

“진리의 성령이 오시면 그가 너희를 모든 진리 가운데로 인도하시리니

그가 자의로 말하지 않고 오직 듣는 것을 말하시며 장래 일을 너희에게 알리시리라.”

“그가 너희에게 말한 모든 것을 생각나게 하시리라” 요 14:18, 16; 16:13; 요 14:26.

그리스도께서는 당신의 교회가 변화된 조직체가 되어

하늘의 빛으로 조명되고 임마누엘의 영광을 소유할 수 있는 준비를 이루셨다.

모든 그리스도인이 빛과 평안의 신령한 분위기에 싸이는 것이 그분의 목적이다.

자아를 버리고

성령께서 그의 마음에 역사할 자리를 만들고

하나님께 완전히 헌신한 생애를 사는 자의 유용성에는 제한이 없다.

Power Promised

God does not ask us to do in our own strength the work before us. He has provided divine assistance for all the emergencies to which our human resources are unequal.

He gives the Holy Spirit to help in every strait, to strengthen our hope and assurance, to illuminate our minds and purify our hearts.

Just before His crucifixion the Saviour said to His disciples:

“I will not leave you comfortless.”

“I will pray the Father, and He shall give you another Comforter, that He may abide with you forever.”

“When He, the Spirit of truth, is come, He will guide you into all truth: for He shall not speak of Himself;

but whatsoever He shall hear, that shall He speak: and He will show you things to come.”

“He shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.” John 14:18, 16; 16:13; John 14:26.

Christ has made provision that His church shall be a transformed body, illumined with the light of heaven, possessing the glory of Immanuel.

It is His purpose that every Christian shall be surrounded with a spiritual atmosphere of light and peace. There is no limit to the usefulness of the one who, putting self aside, makes room for the working of the Holy Spirit upon his heart and lives a life wholly consecrated to God.
