그는 우리가 시험받을 때 어떻게 도우실지 아심

“자기가 시험을 받아 고난을 당하셨은즉 시험받는 자들을 능히 도우시느니라”(히 2:18).

성경은 시험의 광야에서 사탄과의 적나라한 모습을 보여주고 있으나 그것은 무서운 시련이었다. 
그리스도께서 우리를 위하여 시험과 시련을 견디시면서 정복자로 나아오셨다.

그리스도의 유혹의 강렬함을 이해하는 자가 얼마나 적은가! 
잃어버린 세상의 운명이 달려있던 그 시련을 파악하고 있는 사람이 얼마나 적은가! 

세상의 구속주께서는 혈과 육에 대항하도록 경고하지 않으시고

정사와 권세와 이 어두움의 세상 주관자들과 하늘에 있는 악의 영들에 대항하라고 경고한다. 

온 하늘은 이 싸움에 관심을 갖고 있으며

우리의 도움은 이길 능력이 있으시고 구원에 강하신 분 위에 놓여 있었기 때문에

하늘에서는 얼마나 큰 기쁨과 얼마나 큰 즐거움이 있었던가! 

그리스도께서 자신을 아담의 위치에 두시고

아담이 실패한 시험을 견디시고 이 싸움에 의해 인간을 유리한 입장에 있게 하시고

인간이 예수님의 공로를 통하여 이기는 곳에 두게 하신 사건은 얼마나 놀라운 것인가! 

인간이 그의 이름으로, 그의 은혜를 통하여 그리스도께서 승리자가 되신 것처럼 승리자가 되게 하신다.

그리스도 안에서 신성과 인성이 연합되었으며

인간이 승리자가 될 수 있는 유일한 방법은 신성의 참여자가 됨에 의해서이다. … 

신성과 인성이 그리스도의 성령을 가진 자 안에서 결합된다.

사도 바울은

“저가 범사에 형제들과 같이 되심이 마땅하도다

이는 하나님의 일에 자비하고 충성된 대제사장이 되어 백성의 죄를 구속하려 하심이라.” … 

“우리에게 있는 대제사장은 우리 연약함을 체휼하지 아니하는 자가 아니요

모든 일에 우리와 한결같이 시험을 받은 자로되 죄는 없으시니라”

He Knows How to Help Us When We are Tempted

For in that he himself hath suffered being tempted, he is able to succor them that are tempted. Hebrews 2:18.

The Bible gives but a bare mention of the conflict with Satan in the wilderness of temptation, but it was a terrible ordeal. 
Christ came off conqueror, bearing the test and trial in our behalf. 
How little is man able to comprehend the strength of the temptation of Christ! 
How little does he understand of that ordeal upon which hung the destiny of a lost world! 

The world’s Redeemer was not warring against flesh and blood, but against principalities and powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. 

All heaven was interested in this conflict, and what joy, what rejoicing there was in heaven because help had been laid upon one who is mighty to overcome, mighty to save.

What an event was this when Christ placed Himself in the position of Adam, and endured the test where Adam had failed, and by this act placed man on a vantage ground, in favor with God, where he might overcome on his own account through the merits of Jesus. 

In His name, through His grace, man may be an overcomer, even as Christ was an overcomer.
In Christ divinity and humanity were united, and the only way in which man may be an overcomer is through becoming a partaker of the divine nature.... 

Divinity and humanity are blended in him who has the spirit of Christ. The apostle Paul writes, “In all things it behooved him to be made like unto his brethren, that he might be a merciful and faithful high priest.” ... 

“We have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.”
