주 안에서 기뻐함

주께서는 당신의 모든 자녀들이 행복되고 화평하고 순종하기를 원하신다. 

예수께서 말씀하시기를

“평안을 너희에게 끼치노니 곧 나의 평안을 너희에게 주노라

내가 너희에게 주는 것은 세상이 주는 것 같지 아니하니라

너희는 마음에 근심도 말고 두려워하지도 말라”(요 14:27). 

“내가 이것을 너희에게 이름은

내 기쁨이 너희 안에 있어 너희 기쁨을 충만하게 하려 함이니라”(요 15:11)고 하셨다. 

“여호와께서 여기까지 우리를 도우셨”(삼상 7:12)으니 그는 또한 끝까지 우리를 도우실 것이다. 

우리는 주께서 우리를 위로하시고 멸망시키시는 자의 손에서 우리를 구원하시기 위하여

어떻게 행하신 것을 기억하게 하는 기념비를 바라보자. 

우리는 하나님께서 우리에게 베푸신 모든 인애와 자비-눈물을 씻어 주신 것-을 언제나 새롭게 기억하자.

그리함으로 우리의 나그네 생애의 여생(餘生)을 통하여 우리 앞에 있을 모든 난관을 위하여

우리 자신을 굳세게 하자.

우리는 장차 오는 투쟁에 있어서 새로운 난국(難局)을 내다보지 않을 수는 없으나

장차 있을 일도 이미 지난 일과 같으리라고 생각할 수 있는 것이다. 

“네 사는 날을 따라서 능력이 있으리로다” (신 33:25). 

시험은 우리가 그것을 감당하도록 부여된 힘의 한도를 넘지 않을 것이다. 

그런즉 우리는 어떤 일이 생길지라도 그 시험을 감당할 힘을 주실 것을 믿고

우리에게 당하는 일을 무엇이든지 착수하자.

Rejoicing in the Lord

The Lord would have all His sons and daughters happy, peaceful, and obedient. Jesus says, “My peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. 

Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.” “These things have I spoken unto you, that My joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full.” John 14:27; 15:11.

“Hitherto hath the Lord helped us,” and He will help us to the end. 1 Samuel 7:12. 

Let us look to the monumental pillars, reminders of what the Lord has done to comfort us and to save us from the hand of the destroyer. 

Let us keep fresh in our memory all the tender mercies that God has shown us,—the tears He has wiped away, the pains He has soothed, the anxieties removed, the fears dispelled, the wants supplied, the blessings bestowed,—thus strengthening ourselves for all that is before us through the remainder of our pilgrimage.

We cannot but look forward to new perplexities in the coming conflict, but we may look on what is past as well as on what is to come, and say, “Hitherto hath the Lord helped us.” 

“As thy days, so shall thy strength be.” Deuteronomy 33:25. 

The trial will not exceed the strength that shall be given us to bear it. 

Then let us take up our work just where we find it, believing that whatever may come, strength proportionate to the trial will be given.
