희망없는 것을 희망함

 “악인은 그 길을 불의한 자는 그 생각을 버리고 여호와께로 돌아오라

그리하면 그가 긍휼히 여기시리라

우리 하니님께로 나아오라 그가 널리 용서하시리라

여호와의 말씀에 내 생각은 너희 생각과 다르며 내 길은 너희 길과 달라서" 사 55:7, 8. 

그대의 과실과 범죄가 너무나 극악한 것이므로 주님께서 그대들의 기도를 듣지 않으시고

그대들을 구원하시고 복주시기를 허락지 않으리라고 생각하는 것은 그대의 생각이다...

예수에게 가까이 가면 갈수록 그대의 눈에는 그대의 잘못이 더욱 적나라하게 드러나게 될 것이다. 

그 까닭은 그대의 시야가 더욱 밝아졌음이요,

그대의 불완전한 것이 주님의 완전하신 성격과 대조되기 때문이다. 

그러나 그대는 낙심하지 말라. 

이것은 사탄의 힘이 약하여지고 하나님의 성령이 그대를 일으키고 있다는 증거인 것이다. 

그리고 무분별과 냉정이 사라지고 있는 증거인 것이다.

시험과 유혹과 낙심된 자들아 바라보라 바라보라… 바라보는 것은 항상 안전하다. 

아래를 내려다보는 것은 치명적이다. 

그대가 아래를 보면 밑의 것은 비틀거리고 흔들린다. 확실한 것은 아무것도 없다. 

그러나 위의 하늘은 그대에게 조용하고 확고하며 거기에 올라가는 모든 자들은 거룩한 도움이 있다. 

무한하신 분은 강한 팔로 안아 그대가 붙잡도록 하고 하늘 난간까지 도달하게 한다. 

강하신 조력자는 만일 그들이 믿음으로 바라본다면

가장 죄많고 가장 실수가 많은 자들에게 용기를 주시고 북돋우며 가까이에서 축복하신다. 

죄인들은 반드시 위를 바라보아야 한다

Hope for Hopeless

Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the Lord, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon. For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the Lord. - Isaiah 55:7, 8

It is your thought that your mistakes and transgressions have been so grievous that the Lord will not have respect unto your prayers, and will bless and save you.... 

The closer you come to Jesus, the more faulty you will appear in your own eyes; for your vision will be clearer, and your imperfections will be seen in broad and distinct contrast to His perfect nature. 

But do not be discouraged. 

This is evidence that Satan’s delusions have lost their power; that the vivifying influence of the Spirit of God is arousing you, and your indifference and unconcern are passing away. 

Look up, you who are tried, tempted, and discouraged, look up.... 

It is ever safe to look up; it is fatal to look down. If you look down, the earth reels and sways beneath you; nothing is sure. 

But heaven above you is calm and steady, and there is divine aid for every climber. 

The hand of the Infinite is reaching over the battlements of heaven to grasp yours in its strong embrace. 

The mighty Helper is nigh to bless, lift up, and encourage the most erring, the most sinful, if they will look to Him by faith. But the sinner must look up.
