그분은 우리 대적보다 강하고 더 능하심

“영광의 왕이 뉘시뇨 강하고 능한 여호와시요 전쟁에 능한 여호와시로다”(시 24:8).

그리스도께서는 온 세상을 구원하실 만큼 강하셨다.

그는 모든 사람을 원하셨다.

그는 한 사람이 잃어버린바 되는 것을 견딜 수 없으셨다.

그는 사탄의 권세 아래 죽은 각 사람이 구원받지 못함을 아시고 나사로의 무덤에서 우셨다. 

그는 많은 사람, 곧 하나님께 돌아와 충성하기로 서약하는 모든 사람을 위하여

당신 자신을 속죄 제물로 드리셨다.… 

그가 나사로를 죽음에서 일으키셨을 때에

그는 그 생명을 위하여 자기가 갈바리의 십자가상에서 속죄의 값을 지불하셔야 할 것을 아셨다...

온 세상의 죄를 담당하신 구세주의 고상하고 순결한 빛을 통하여 볼 때에

인간 가족이 고생을 당하는 그 병균은 하나님의 율법을 범함으로써 그들에게 임한 병균임을 알 수 있다. 

그는 고난을 당하는 모든 사건마다 그 원인을 규명할 수가 있었다.

그는 회개하지 않는 죄인들의 최후 종말에 관한 슬프고도 무서운 역사를 알고 계시다. 
그는 그들이 빠진 웅덩이에서 그들을 구원할 수 있는 분은 당신뿐임을 알고 계셨다. 

그분만이 그들의 발을 옳은 길로 놓을 수 있었다. 
그의 완전하심만이 그들의 불완전함의 도움이 될 수 있음을 아셨다.

그분만이 그들의 벌거벗은 것을 그분 자신의 흠없는 의의 옷으로 덮으실 수 있었다. … 

그는 구원하시기에 강하시다.

도움은 전능자에게서 온다.

그는 그의 인간의 긴 팔로서는 인간을 감싸안고 있고 그의 신성의 팔로는 전능자를 껴안고 있다.

He is Stronger and More Mighty Than Our Adversary

Who is this King of glory? The Lord strong and mighty, the Lord mighty in battle. 

- Psalm 24:8.

Christ was strong to save the whole world. 
He wanted all. He could not endure the thought that one should be lost. 
He wept at the grave of Lazarus, that He could not save every one whom Satan’s power had laid low in death. 

He had given Himself a ransom for many, even all who would avail themselves of the privilege of coming back to their loyalty to God.... 

When He raised Lazarus from the dead, He knew that for that life He must pay the ransom on the cross of Calvary...

From the light of His exalted purity, the world’s Redeemer could see that the maladies from which the human family were suffering were brought upon them by transgression of the law of God. 

Every case of suffering He could trace back to its source. In every case He read the sad and awful end of unrepenting sinners. 
He knew that He alone could rescue them from the pit into which they had fallen. 

He alone could place their feet in the right path; His perfection alone could avail for their imperfection. 
He alone could cover their nakedness with His spotless robe of righteousness.... 

He is strong to deliver. 
Help has been laid on one that is mighty. 
He encircles man with His long human arm, while with His divine arm He lays hold of Omnipotence.
