세속적인 관습과 분리되라

하나님께서 히브리인 포로들에게

그리고 죄악에 빠져 있는 세상의 관습과 행습에서 확연히 떠나 있던 자들에게 자신의 뜻을 알리셨듯이,

주께서는 “여호와께서 이같이 말씀하시되”를 이해할 모든 사람에게 하늘로부터 오는 빛을 주실 것이다. 

그들에게 그분께서는 그분의 마음을 밝히실 것이다.

세속적인 생각에 가장 적게 매여 있는 사람들은

과시, 허영과 교만, 높아짐에 대한 사랑과 가장 많이 분리된 자들이며,

선한 일에 열심인 그분의 특별한 백성으로 서는 사람들이다.

이런 자들에게 그분은 그분의 말씀의 의미를 드러내실 것이다.

어찌하여 그리스도인으로 공언하는 우리가 영원을 시야에서 놓쳐 버리고,

예수 그리스도를 시야에서 놓쳐 버릴 때까지, 그리고 아버지를 시야에서 높쳐 버릴 때까지

그토록 세상과 섞이고 어울리는 것일까? 

내가 묻노니, 왜 하나님의 영이 계시지 않는 가정이 그렇게 많은 것일까?

왜 예수 그리스도의 생명과 사랑과 그분의 형상을 닮은 가정이 그토록 적은 것일까?

그 이유는 그들이 하나님을 알지 못하기 때문이다. 

만일 그들이 하나님을 알고, 사람을 위해 돌아가시기 위해 세상에 오신 예수 그리스도를 믿는 믿음으로

그분을 바라본다면, 그들은 아들 안에서 비할 바 없는 매력을 볼 것이며,

바라봄으로써 그들은 동일한 형상으로 변화되어 갈 것이다.

이제 그대는 세상을 따라가는 일이 그릇되다는 것을 이해할 것이다.

Separate From Worldly Customs

As God made known His will to the Hebrew captives, to those who were most separate from the customs and practices of a world lying in wickedness, so will the Lord communicate light from heaven to all who will appreciate a “Thus saith the Lord.” 

To them He will express His mind. Those who are least bound up with worldly ideas, are the most separate from display and vanity and pride and love of promotion, who stand forth as His peculiar people, zealous of good works—to these He will reveal the meaning of His word.

Why, as professing Christians, are we so mixed and mingled with the world till we lose sight of eternity, till we lose sight of Jesus Christ, and till we lose sight of the Father?

Why, I ask you, are there so many families destitute of the Spirit of God? Why are there so many families that have so little of the life and love and likeness of Jesus Christ? It is because they do not know God. 

If they knew God, and if they would behold Him by faith in Jesus Christ, who came to our world to die for man, they would see such matchless charms in the Son that they by beholding would become changed to the same image. Now you see the wrong of conforming to the world.
