Softening a Perverse Disposition

                                                     심술궂은 기질을 부드럽게 함

 

Advancement in Christian experience is characterized by increasing humility,

as the result of increasing knowledge.

Everyone who is united to Christ will depart from all iniquity…

 

When Christ is cherished in the heart, His likeness will be revealed in the life.

Humility will reign where pride was once predominant.

Submission, meekness, patience,

will soften down the rugged features of a naturally perverse, impetuous disposition.

Love to Jesus will be manifested in love to His people.

It is not fitful, not spasmodic, but calm and deep and strong.

 

The life of the Christian

will be divested of all pretense, free from all affectation, artifice, and falsehood.

It is earnest, true, sublime. Christ speaks in every word.

He is seen in every deed.

The life is radiant with the light of an indwelling Saviour.

In converse with God and in happy contemplation of heavenly things the soul

is preparing for heaven and laboring to gather other souls into the fold of Christ.

Our Saviour is able and willing to do for us more than we can ask or even think.

그리스도인 경험에 있어서 향상은 지식이 증가된 결과로 겸손이 더해가는 것으로 특징지어진다. 

그리스도와 연합된 사람은 누구나 모든 죄에서 떠나게 될 것이다...

 

그리스도를 마음속에 모시게 되면 그분의 형상이 생애에 나타날 것이다. 

한때 교만이 주권을 가졌던 곳을 겸손이 지배할 것이다. 

순종, 온유, 인내는 본성적으로 심술궂고 충동적인 기질에 속한 거친 특성들을 부드럽게 해줄 것이다. 

예수님께 대한 사랑은 그분의 백성에 대한 사랑으로 나타날 것이다. 

 그것은 변덕스럽거나 발작적인 것이 아니고, 조용하고 깊고 강한 것이다.

 

그리스도인의 생애는 모든 가식이 벗겨진 바 되고 모든 가장(假裝)과 술책과 거짓이 없게 될 것이다. 

그것은 열렬하고, 진실하고, 숭고하다. 

그리스도는 모든 말 가운데서 말씀하시고, 모든 행동 가운데 엿보인다. 

생애는 마음속에 거하시는 구주의 빛으로 빛난다. 

하나님과 대화를 나누고 하늘의 사물을 즐겁게 명상함으로

심령은 하늘을 위하여 준비되고

다른 영혼들을 그리스도의 우리 안으로 모아들이기 위하여 활동하게 된다. 

우리 구주께서는 우리가 구하거나 생각할 수 있는 것 이상으로 우리를 위하여 하실 수 있으시고

또한 즐겨 하신다.

 

God Can Mold the Disposition.--Whatever your disposition may be,

God is able to so mold that disposition that it will be sweet and Christlike.

By living faith you can separate from everything

not in accordance with the mind of God,

and thus bring a heaven into your life here below.

하나님께서는 기질을 꼴지을 수 있으심--그대의 기질이 어떠하든지 간에,

 하나님께서는 그 기질이 상냥하고 그리스도처럼 되도록 꼴지을 수 있으시다. 

산 믿음으로 말미암아 그대는 하나님의 마음과 일치되지 않는 모든 것으로부터 분리될 수 있으며, 

그렇게 하여 하늘을 그대의 지상 생애 속으로 들여올 수 있다. 

그대는 이렇게 하려는가? 그렇게 한다면, 그대는 매순간 빛 가운데 거닐게 될 것이다.
