교인 사이의 관계

 

Every man who is striving to overcome will have his own weaknesses to contend with,

but it is so much easier for persons to see the faults of their brethren

than to see their own

that they should be much more diligent and critical with themselves than with others.

 

이기려고 애쓰는 자마다 싸워야 할 자신의 약점들을 가지게 될 것이다. 

그러나, 자신들의 흠보다는 형제들의 흠을 찾기가 훨씬 더 쉬우므로, 

남보다는 자신들의 약점을 고치기 위해 더욱 부지런하고 비평적이어야 한다.

 

All the members of the church, if they are sons and daughters of God,

will have to undergo a process of discipline before they can be lights in the world.

God will not make men and women channels of light while they are in darkness

and are content to remain so,

making no special efforts to connect with the Source of light.

 

모든 교인들은, 만일 하나님의 아들과 딸이라면, 

세상에서 빛이되기 전에 먼저 훈련 과정을 거치지 않으면 안 된다. 

사람들이 어둠 가운데 처하여 있으면서도 그런 상태로 남아 있는 것에 만족하여

빛의 근원이 되시는 분과 연결되기 위한 특별한 노력을 하지 않는 한

하나님께서는 그들을 빛의 통로로 삼지 않으실 것이다. 

 

Those who feel their own need, and arouse themselves to the deepest thought

and the most earnest, persevering prayer and action, will receive divine aid.

There is much for each to unlearn with respect to himself, as well as much to learn.

Old habits and customs must be shaken off,

and it is only by earnest struggles to correct these errors,

and a full reception of the truth in carrying out its principles, by the grace of God,

that the victory can be gained.

 

자신의 부족을 느끼고 각성하는 마음으로 생각을 더없이 깊이 하며

가장 진지한 기도와 행동을 끝까지 계속하는 자들은 하늘의 도움을 받게 될 것이다. 

각자는 자신에 대하여 배워야 할 것도 많지만 고쳐야 할 것도 많다. 

낡은 습성과 습관들은 버려야 한다. 

승리는 하나님의 은혜를 힘입어 이러한 잘못들을 바로잡으려는 진지한 투쟁과, 

진리의 원칙을 실천함으로써 진리를 완전히 받아들이는 일을 통하여서만 얻어진다.

 

I wish I could speak words

which would impress us all that our only hope as individuals is to connect with God.

Purity of soul must be obtained;

and there is much heart searching to be done

and much obstinacy and self-love to be overcome,

which will require constant, earnest prayer.

 

나는 우리 각 개인의 유일한 희망은 하나님과 연결되는 것이라는 사실을

우리 모두에게 심어 줄 그런 말을 할 수 있기를 바란다. 

영혼은 반드시 순결해져야 한다. 

우리는 마음을 살피는 일도 열심히 해야 하고, 극복해야 할 고집과 이기심도 많다. 

그런데,이런 일에는 계속적이고 열렬한 기도가 필요하다.
