We Are to Look Away from Self to Jesus

우리 자신을 보지 말고 예수님을 바라보아야 한다

 

 

It is not wise to look to ourselves and study our emotions.

If we do this, the enemy will present difficulties and temp­tations that weaken faith,

and destroy courage.

Closely to study our emotions and give way to our feelings is to enter­tain doubt

and entangle ourselves in perplexity.

We are to look away from self to Jesus.

 

우리 자신들을 바라보고 우리의 감정을 살펴보는 것은 현명하지 못하다.

만일 우리가 그렇게 하면, 원수는 믿음을 약화시키고 용기를 꺾어버릴 어려움과 시험을 줄 것이다.

우리의 감정을 면밀하게 살펴보고 우리의 감정이 발휘될 길을 제공하게 되면

회의심이 용납되고 우리 자신이 어려움에 사로잡히게 된다.

우리는 우리 자신을 보지 말고 예수님을 바라보아야 한다.

 

When temptations assail you,

when care, perplexity, and darkness seem to surround your soul,

look to the place where you last saw die light.

Rest in Christ’s love, and under His protecting care.

When sin straggles for the mastery in the heart,

when guilt oppresses the soul and burdens the con­science,

when unbelief clouds the mind,

remember that Christ’s grace is sufficient to subdue sin and banish the darkness.

Entering into communion with the Savior, we enter the region of peace.

 

유혹이 그대를 엄습하고 근심과 걱정과 어두움이 그대의 심령을 둘러싸는 것처럼 보일 때,

그대는 그대가 마지막으로 빛을 본 그곳을 바라보라.

그리스도의 사랑 안에서, 그리고 그분께서 돌봐주시는 보호 아래 안식을 얻어라.

죄가 마음을 지배하고자 싸울 때, 죄책감이 심령을 억압하고 양심을 억누를 때, 불신이 마음을 가리울 때,

그리스도의 은혜는 죄를 정복하고 어두움을 몰아내기에 충분하다는 사실을 기억하라.

구주와 교통함으로 우리는 화평의 영역에 들어가게 된다.
