하나님께 대한 순종을 통해 정욕과 충동에서 구원받음

 

하나님께 대한 순종은 죄의 속박에서의 해방과, 인간의 정욕과 충동에서의 구원을 뜻한다.

사람은 자기 자신의 정복자, 자기 자신의 경향의 지배자,

“정사와 권세와 이 어두움의 세상 주관자들과 하늘에 있는 악의 영들”(엡 6: 12)에 대한 승리자가 될 수 있다.

 

그대가 할 일은 그대의 의지를 그리스도의 편에 두는 것이다.

그대가 그대의 의지를 그분의 의지에 굴복시킬 때, 그분은 즉시 그대를 점유하시고

자기의 기쁘신 뜻을 위하여 그대로 소원을 두고 행하도록 일하신다.

그대의 본성은 그분의 영의 통제 아래 들어간다. 그대의 생각까지도 그분께 굴복된다.

 

 만일 그대가 자신이 원하는 대로 충동과 정서를 통제할 수 없다 하더라도

그대는 의지를 통제할 수 있다.

그렇게 함으로써 전적인 변화가 그대의 생애 가운데 발생할 것이다.

그대가 의지를 그리스도께 굴복시킬 때

그대의 생명은 하나님 안에 그리스도와 함께 감추어진 바 된다.

그것은 모든 정사와 권세 위에 뛰어난 권세와 연합된다.

그대는 그대를 그분의 능력에 단단히 붙들어 매는, 하나님께로부터 온 능력을 가지고 있다.

그리고 새 생활, 믿음의 생활이 가능하게 된다.

 

진리의 능력은 모든 역경 속에서 지탱해 주고 위로해 주기에 충분하다.

그리스도교 신앙이 그 참 가치를 드러내는 것은

그 신앙의 소유자로 하여금 환난을 극복할 수 있게 해주는 데 있다.

그것은 식욕과 정욕과 감정이 이성과 양심의 지배 아래 놓이게 하고,

사상이 건전한 통로를 통하여 흐르도록 훈련시켜 준다.

그렇게 되면 혀는 죄악적인 불평을 발하므로 하나님을 욕되게 하지 않을 것이다.

Obedience to God Delivers from Passion and Impulse

 

Obedience to God is liberty from the thralldom of sin,

deliverance from human passion and impulse.

Man may stand conqueror of himself, conqueror of his own inclinations,

conqueror of principalities and powers, and of “the rulers of the darkness of this world,” and of “spiritual wickedness in high places.”

 

Your part is to put your will on the side of Christ.

When you yield your will to His, He immediately takes possession of you,

and works in you to will and to do of His good pleasure.

Your nature is brought under the control of His Spirit.

Even your thoughts are subject to Him.

 

 If you cannot control your impulses, your emotions, as you may desire,

you can control the will, and thus an entire change will be wrought in your life.

When you yield up your will to Christ, your life is hid with Christ in God.

It is allied to the power which is above all principalities and powers.

You have a strength from God that holds you fast to His strength;

and a new life, even the life of faith, is possible to you.

 

The power of the truth should be sufficient to sustain and console in every adversity.

It is in enabling its possessor to triumph over affliction

that the religion of Christ reveals its true value.

It brings the appetites, the passions, and the emotions under the control of reason

and conscience, and disciplines the thoughts to flow in a healthful channel.

And then the tongue will not be left to dishonor God by ｅxpressions of sinful repining.
