자녀들은 부모의 그릇된 습관들을 피해야 함

 

병은 결코 원인 없이는 생기지 않는다.

건강의 법칙을 무시함으로써 그 길이 닦여지고 질병이 초래된다.

많은 사람이 부모들이 범한 죄의 결과로 고통을 받는다.

그들은 부모들이 저지른 일에 책임은 없지만,

무엇이 건강 법칙을 범하는 것인지 아닌지 확실히 아는 것이 그들의 의무이다.

그들은 부모들의 그릇된 습관을 피하고, 바른 사람을 살아감으로써

그들 자신을 보다 좋은 상태 아래 놓아야 한다.

 

회심으로 선천적인 경향이 변화됨—

진정한 회심으로 악으로 기우는, 선천적인 경향과 후천적인 경향은 변화된다.

하나님을 믿는 종교는 수많은 실로 구성되고 기지와 기술로 함께 짜여진 견고한 직물이다.

오직 하나님께로부터 온 지혜로 이 직물은 완전하게 만들어질 수 있다.

처음에는 좋아 보이지만 시험을 견딜 수 없는 수많은 종류의 천들이 있다.

그것들은 해어져 버린다. 그 색깔들은 오래가지 못한다.

여름의 뜨거운 열을 받으면 그것들은 변색되어 사라져 버린다. 그 천은 거친 취급을 견디지 못한다.

 

우리가 고려해야 할 문제는 우리에게 그리스도의 속성이 있는가이다.

핑계는 쓸모없다.

온갖 환경, 온갖 식욕과 정욕은 하나님을 두려워하는 사람의 종이 되어야지 지배자가 되어서는 안 된다.

그리스도인은 그 어떤 유전적이거나 길러진 습관 혹은 경향에 사로잡힌 노예가 되어서는 안 된다.

 

천사들은 그들의 도움이 가장 필요되는 곳에 항상 임재해 있다.

그들은 가장 힘겨운 싸움을 싸우는 자들, 기호와 유전된 성향들에 맞서서 싸우지 않으면 안 되는 자들,

가정 환경이 아주 낙담스런 자들과 함께 있다.

Children to Avoid Wrong Habits of Parents

 

Disease never comes without a cause.

The way is prepared and disease invited by disregard of the laws of health.

Many suffer in consequence of the transgression of their parents.

While they are not responsible for what their parents have done,

it is nevertheless their duty to ascertain what are and what are not violations

of the laws of health.

They should avoid the wrong habits of their parents

and by correct living place themselves in better conditions.

 

Conversion Changes Inherited Tendencies—

A genuine conversion changes hereditary and cultivated tendencies to wrong.

The religion of God is a firm fabric,

composed of innumerable threads and woven together with tact and skill.

Only the wisdom which comes from God can make this fabric complete.

There are a great many kinds of cloth which at first have a fine appearance,

but they cannot endure the test. They wash out. The colors are not fast.

Under the heat of summer they fade away and are lost.

The cloth cannot endure rough handling.

 

The question for us to consider is, Have we the attributes of Christ?

Excuses are valueless.

All circumstances, all appetites and passions,

are to be servants to the God-fearing man, not rulers over him.

The Christian is not to be enslaved by any hereditary or cultivated habits or tendency.

 

Angels are ever present where they are most needed.

They are with those who have the hardest battles to fight,

with those who must battle against inclination and hereditary tendencies,

whose home surroundings are the most discouraging.
