Safe in His Arms

[주님의 팔에서 안전함]

As a mother comforts her child, so will I comfort you. -v. 13

어머니가 자식을 위로함 같이 내가 너희를 위로할 것인즉

 

I sat next to my daughter’s bed in a recovery room after she had undergone surgery.

When her eyes fluttered open, she realized she was uncomfortable and started to cry.

I tried to reassure her by stroking her arm, but she only became more upset.

With help from a nurse, I moved her from the bed and onto my lap.

I brushed tears from her cheeks and reminded her that she would eventually feel better.

 

나는 수술을 받고 회복실에 있는 딸의 침대 곁에 앉아 있었습니다.

아이의 눈이 깜박거리다가 떠지면서 아이는 불편함을 느끼고는 울기 시작했습니다.

나는 아이의 팔을 어루만지며 안심시키려 했으나 아이는 오히려 더 불안해했습니다.

간호사의 도움으로 나는 아이를 병상에서 내려 내 무릎에 앉혔습니다.

나는 딸의 뺨에 흘러내린 눈물을 닦아주면서 결국에는 나아질 것이라고 일러주었습니다.

Through Isaiah, God told the Israelites,

“As a mother comforts her child, so will I comfort you” (Isa. 66:13).

God promised to give His children peace

and to carry them the way a mother totes a child around on her side.

This tender message was for the people

who had a reverence for God-those who “tremble at his word” (v. 5).

 

이사야를 통하여 하나님은 이스라엘백성들에게

“어머니가 자식을 위로함 같이 내가 너희를 위로할 것인즉”(사 66:13)이라고 말씀하셨습니다.

하나님은 그분의 자녀들에게 평안을 주겠다고 약속하셨고,

어머니가 곁에 아이를 데리고 다니듯 그들을 인도하겠다고 약속하셨습니다.

이런 애정 어린 메시지는 하나님을 경배했던 사람들,

즉 “여호와의 말씀으로 말미암아 떠는 자들”(5절)을 위한 것이었습니다.

God’s ability and desire to comfort His people appears again in Paul’s letter

to the Corinthian believers.

Paul said the Lord is the one “who comforts us in all our troubles” (2 Cor. 1:3-4).

God is gentle and sympathetic with us when we are in trouble.

 

하나님의 백성들을 위로하기 위한 하나님의 능력과 바램은

고린도교회의 신자들에게 쓴 바울의 편지에서 다시 나타납니다.

바울은 “우리의 모든 환난 중에서 우리를 위로하시는”(고후 1:3-4) 분이 주님이라고 말했습니다.

하나님은 우리가 환난 중에 있을 때 우리에게 너그러우시며 우리와 공감해주십니다.

One day all suffering will end.

Our tears will dry up permanently, and we will be safe in God’s arms forever (Rev. 21:4). Until then, we can depend on God’s love to support us when we suffer.

 

언젠가 모든 고난이 끝나게 될 것입니다.

우리의 눈물은 씻겨 영원히 마를 것이며, 우리는 하나님의 팔에 안겨 영원토록 안전할 것입니다

(계 21:4). 그때까지 우리는 고통당할 때 우리를 지탱해주시는 하나님의 사랑에 의지할 수 있습니다.

Dear God, help me to remember that nothing can separate me from Your love.

Please assure me of Your care through the power of the Holy Spirit.

 

사랑하는 하나님, 어떤 것도 하나님의 사랑에서 저를 끊을 수 없다는 것을 기억하도록 도와주소서.

성령의 능력으로 제가 주님의 돌보심 안에 있음을 확신하게 해주소서.
