열왕기상 18:41~18:45

 

41엘리야가 아합에게 이르되 올라가서 먹고 마시소서 큰 비 소리가 있나이다

42아합이 먹고 마시러 올라가니라

엘리야가 갈멜 산 꼭대기로 올라가서 땅에 꿇어 엎드려 그의 얼굴을 무릎 사이에 넣고

43그의 사환에게 이르되 올라가 바다쪽을 바라보라

그가 올라가 바라보고 말하되 아무것도 없나이다 이르되 일곱 번까지 다시 가라

 

44일곱 번째 이르러서는 그가 말하되 바다에서 사람의 손 만한 작은 구름이 일어나나이다

이르되 올라가 아합에게 말하기를 비에 막히지 아니하도록 마차를 갖추고 내려가소서 하라 하니라

 

45조금 후에 구름과 바람이 일어나서 하늘이 캄캄해지며 큰 비가 내리는지라

아합이 마차를 타고 이스르엘로 가니

Miracle Rain

I am God, and there is no other. - Isaiah 46:9

나는 하나님이라, 나 외에 다른 이가 없느니라

 

Life is hard for the villagers who live on a hilly terrain in the Yunnan Province of China.

Their main source of food is corn and rice.

But in May 2012 a severe drought hit the region and the crops withered.

Everyone was worried, and many superstitious practices were carried out

as the people attempted to end the drought.

When nothing worked, people started blaming the 5 Christians in the village

for offending the spirits of the ancestors.

 

중국 운남성 구릉지역 마을 주민들의 삶은 열악합니다. 그들의 주식은 옥수수와 쌀입니다.

그러나 2012년 5월, 그 지역은 심한 가뭄으로 농작물이 말라 죽게 되었습니다.

모두가 걱정을 했고, 가뭄을 끝내기 위해 많은 미신적 행위가 행해졌습니다.

어떤 것도 효과가 없자 사람들은

그 마을에 있는 다섯 사람의 그리스도인들이 조상신들을 노하게 했다고 탓하기 시작했습니다.

These 5 believers gathered to pray.

Before long, the sky darkened and thunder was heard.

A heavy downpour started and lasted the whole afternoon and night.

The crops were saved!

While most of the villagers did not believe God sent the rain,

others did and desired to find out more about Him and Jesus.

 

이 5 신자들은 모여서 기도했습니다. 오래지 않아 하늘이 어두워지고 천둥소리가 들렸습니다.

장대비가 내리기 시작해서 오후 내내, 그리고 밤새 계속 내렸습니다. 곡식들이 살아남았습니다!

대부분 마을 주민들은 하나님이 비를 내려주었다고 믿지 않았지만,

어떤 이들은 그렇게 믿고 하나님과 예수님에 대해 더 알고 싶어 했습니다.

In 1 Kings 17 and 18 we read of a severe drought in Israel. But in this case, we are told, it was a result of God’s judgment on His people (17:1).

They had begun to worship Baal, the god of the Canaanites,

believing that this deity could send the rain for their crops.

Then God, through His prophet Elijah,

showed that He is the one true God who determines when rain falls.

 

열왕기상 17장과 18장에서 우리는 이스라엘에 심각한 가뭄이 있었음을 봅니다.

그러나 이 경우는 그 가뭄이 하나님이 그의 백성에게 내린 심판의 결과라고 말합니다(17:1).

그들은 가나안의 신 바알이 그들의 곡식을 위해 비를 내려준다고 믿으며 숭배하기 시작했습니다.

그러자 하나님은 그의 선지자 엘리야를 통해

하나님만이 언제 비가 내릴지 결정하는 유일한 참 신이심을 보여주셨습니다.

Our all-powerful God desires to hear our prayers and answer our pleas.

And though we do not always understand His timing or His purposes,

God always responds with His best for our lives.

 

우리의 전능하신 하나님은 우리의 기도를 들으시고 우리의 간구에 응답해주시길 원하십니다.

그리고 비록 우리가 주님의 때와 주님의 목적을 늘 이해하지는 못하더라도,

하나님은 우리 삶을 위해 주님의 가장 좋은 것으로 늘 응답해주십니다.
