The Faith that Overcomes the World

 

What kind of faith is it that overcomes the world?

세상을 이기는 믿음은 어떠한 믿음인가?

 

It is that faith which makes Christ your own personal Saviour—

that faith which, recognizing your helplessness, your utter inability to save yourself,

takes hold of the Helper who is mighty to save, as your only hope.

 

그것은 그리스도를 개인의 구주로 삼는 믿음,

곧 자기 스스로는 자신을 구원할 수 없다는 무력함을 전적으로 인식하고

그대의 유일의 소망으로서 능히 구원하실 수 있는 조력자(예수)를 붙드는 믿음이다.

 

It is faith that will not be discouraged, that hears the voice of Christ saying,

“Be of good cheer, I have overcome the world, and My divine strength is yours.”

 

It is the faith that hears Him say,

“Lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world.”

 

그것은 실망함이 없는 믿음, “담대하라 내가 세상을 이기었노라 나의 신성의 능력은 그대의 것이다.”

“내가 세상 끝날까지 너희와 항상 함께 있으리라”고 말씀하시는 그리스도의 음성을 듣는 믿음이다.

 

The reason why the churches are weak and sickly and ready to die is that

the enemy has brought influences of a discouraging nature to bear upon trembling souls.

 

교회들이 병들어 죽게 된 이유는 원수가 두려워 떠는 영혼들에게 낙담하는 감화를 주기 때문이다.

 

He has sought to shut Jesus from their view as the Comforter,

as one who reproves, who warns, who admonishes them, saying,

“This is the way, walk ye in it.”

 

그는 예수님을 보혜사로서, 또한 “이것이 정로니 너희는 이리로 행하라”고 말씀하시면서

그들을 훈계하시고 경고하시며 깨우치시는 분이심을 생각하지 못하도록 힘쓰고 있다.

 

Christ has all power in heaven and in earth, and He can strengthen the wavering,

and set right the erring.

 

그리스도께서는 하늘과 땅의 모든 권세를 갖고 계시며 방황하는 자들에게 힘을 주시고

잘못하는 자를 바르게 하실 수 있다.

 

He can inspire with confidence, with hope in God;

and confidence in God always results in creating confidence in one another.

 

그는 하나님을 신뢰하고 당신 안에서 소망을 갖도록 감동시키실 수 있으신데,

하나님께 대한 신뢰는 항상 서로의 신뢰를 촉진하는 결과를 준다.
