진정한 믿음은 생명이다

 

To talk of religion in a casual way, to pray without soul hunger and living faith,

avails nothing.

A nominal faith in Christ, which accepts Him merely as the Saviour of the world,

can never bring healing to the soul.

 

신앙에 관하여 경박하게 말하거나 주린 심령과 산 믿음 없이 기도하는 것은 아무런 소용이 없다.

그리스도를 단순히 세상의 구주로 받아들이는 명목상의 믿음은

결코 심령에 치유(治癒)를 가져올 수 없다.

 

The faith that is unto salvation is not a mere intellectual assent to the truth.

He who waits for entire knowledge before he will exercise faith,

cannot receive blessing from God.

It is not enough to believe about Christ; we must believe in Him.

 

구원에 이르는 믿음은 진리에 대한 단순한 지적 동의가 아니다.

온갖 것을 알기까지 믿음을 활용하지 않는 자는 하나님의 축복을 받을 수 없다.

그리스도에 관하여 믿는 것만으로는 충분하지 않다.

우리는 그리스도를 참으로 믿어야 한다.

 

The only faith that will benefit us is that which embraces Him as a personal Saviour;

which appropriates His merits to ourselves.

 

우리에게 유익을 주는 유일한 믿음은 곧 그리스도를 개인의 구주로 믿는 것,

곧 그리스도의 공로를 우리들 자신의 것으로 삼는 믿음이다.

 

Many hold faith as an opinion.

Saving faith is a transaction by which those who receive Christ join themselves

in covenant relation with God.

 

많은 사람들은 믿음을 한 의견으로 여긴다.

구원하는 믿음은

그리스도를 받아들이는 자들이 언약 관계를 통하여 자신들을 하나님과 결합시키는 거래이다.

 

Genuine faith is life.

A living faith means an increase of vigor, a confiding trust,

by which the soul becomes a conquering power.

 

진정한 믿음은 생명이다.

산 믿음은 활력의 증가, 의지하는 신뢰를 의미하며

그것으로 말미암아 영혼을 정복하는 능력자가 된다.
