만일, 우리의 생애가 거룩한 향기로 충만해지고,

우리가 다른 사람들에 대하여 좋게 생각함으로써 하나님께 영광을 돌리고

다른 사람들을 축복하기 위하여 훌륭한 행동을 할 것 같으면,

우리는 오막살이에 살든지 왕궁에 살든지 문제가 되지 않는다.

 

환경은 영혼의 경험과 별반 상관이 없다.

우리의 모든 행동에 영향을 미치는 것은 품고 있는 정신이다.

 

하나님과 동료들로 더불어 화목하는 사람은 불행해질 수 없다.

시기심이 그의 마음속에 있지 않을 것이며,

좋지 않은 추측이 발견될 여지가 없고,

증오심이 존재할 수 없다

하나님과 조화를 이루고 있는 마음은 이 세상 생애에 속한 괴로움과 시련을 초월하게 된다.

If our lives are filled with holy fragrance,

if we honor God by having good thoughts toward others,

and doing good deeds to bless others,

it matters not whether we live in a cottage or a palace.

 

Circumstances have but little to do with the experiences of the soul.

A man at peace with God and his fellow men cannot be made miserable.

Envy will not be in his heart; evil surmising will find no room there; hatred cannot exist.

The heart in harmony with God is lifted above the annoyances and trials of this life.
