무릇 하나님의 영으로 인도함을 받는 사람은 곧 하나님의 아들이라

너희는 다시 무서워하는 종의 영을 받지 아니하고 양자의 영을 받았으므로

우리가 아빠 아버지라고 부르짖느니라

성령이 친히 우리의 영과 더불어 우리가 하나님의 자녀인 것을 증언하시나니

자녀이면 또한 상속자 곧 하나님의 상속자요 그리스도와 함께 한 상속자니

우리가 그와 함께 영광을 받기 위하여 고난도 함께 받아야 할 것이니라

 

 

 

SHOCKING ACCESSIBILITY

You received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, “Abba, Father.”-Romans 8:15

When John F. Kennedy was president of the US, photographers sometimes captured a winsome scene. Seated around the president’s desk in the Oval Office, cabinet members are debating matters of world consequence. Meanwhile, a toddler, the 2-year-old John-John, crawls around and inside the huge presidential desk, oblivious to White House protocol and the weighty matters of state. He is simply visiting his daddy. That is the kind of shocking accessibility conveyed in the word Abba when Jesus said, “Abba, Father, all things are possible for You” (Mark 14:36). God may be the sovereign Lord of the universe, but through His Son, God became as approachable as any doting human father. In Romans 8, Paul brings the image of intimacy even closer. God’s Spirit lives inside us, he says, and when we do not know what we ought to pray “the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered”(v.26). Jesus came to demonstrate that a perfect and holy God welcomes pleas for help from a widow with two mites and a Roman centurion and a miserable publican and a thief on a cross. We need only call out “Abba”or, failing that, simply groan. God has come that close to us. -Philip Yancey

존 에프 케네디 미국 대통령 시절에, 사진사들이 가끔씩 눈길을 끄는 장면을 사진으로 찍곤 했습니다. 대통령 집무실의 탁상 주위에 장관들이 둘러앉아 세계정세를 논의하고 있는 동안, 두 살 된 대통령 아들 존존이 백악관의 규율과 나라의 무거운 과제들에는 아랑곳없이 대통령의 커다란 책상 안쪽과 주위를 기어 다닙니다. 아이는 단순히 자신의 아빠를 찾아 들어온 것입니다. 그것은 예수님이 “아빠 아버지여 아버지께는 모든 것이 가능하오니”(막 14:36)라고 말씀하셨을 때의 ‘아빠’란 단어 속에 들어있는 놀라운 접근허용과 같은 종류의 것입니다. 하나님은 우주의 주권자이시기는 하지만 그분의 아들을 통해서 한 자애로운 인간의 아버지처럼 접근할 수 있게 되었습니다. 로마서 8장에서 바울은 이런 친밀한 모습을 더욱 가까이 끌어옵니다. 그는 하나님의 성령이 우리 안에 살고 계셔서 우리가 마땅히 기도할 바를 알지 못할 때 “성령이 말할 수 없는 탄식으로 우리를 위하여 친히 간구하시느니라”(26절)라고 말합니다. 예수님은 이 땅에 오셔서 완전하고 거룩하신 하나님께서 두 렙돈을 가진 과부와 로마의 백부장, 비천한 세리, 그리고 십자가 위의 강도가 도와달라고 간청하는 것을 기쁘게 받으신다는 것을 보여주셨습니다. 우리는 단순히 ‘아빠’라고 부르짖거나, 그렇게도 못하면 그저 신음만 하면 됩니다. 하나님은 그만큼 우리에게 가까이 와 계십니다.

아빠 아버지, 저에게 가까이 오소서. 당신을 간절히 알기 원하고, 당신도 저를 알기를 간절히 원합니다. 때로는 제 생각을 말로 어떻게 옮겨야 할지 모르지만, 당신이 제 마음을 벌써 알고 계신 것을 감사드립니다. 그러나 더욱 더 많은 것들을 당신과 나누기를 원합니다.

기도는 우리 하나님과의 친밀한 대화이다.
