시편 19:1~19:6 / 78장 (통 75장)

 

하늘이 하나님의 영광을 선포하고 궁창이 그의 손으로 하신 일을 나타내는도다

날은 날에게 말하고 밤은 밤에게 지식을 전하니

언어도 없고 말씀도 없으며 들리는 소리도 없으나

그의 소리가 온 땅에 통하고 그의 말씀이 세상 끝까지 이르도다

하나님이 해를 위하여 하늘에 장막을 베푸셨도다

해는 그의 신방에서 나오는 신랑과 같고 그의 길을 달리기 기뻐하는 장사 같아서

하늘 이 끝에서 나와서 하늘 저 끝까지 운행함이여 그의 열기에서 피할 자가 없도다

 

 

HAND ME THE BINOCULARS!

The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament shows His handiwork. -Psalm 19:1

When I was in elementary school my friend Kent and I would often spend time looking at the night sky with a pair of German-made binoculars. We marveled at the stars in the sky and the mountains on the moon. All throughout the evening we took turns saying, “Hand me the binocs!” Centuries earlier a Jewish shepherd boy looked up at the night sky and also marveled. He did not have a pair of binoculars or a telescope to aid him. But he had something even more important - a personal relationship with the living God.   I imagine the sheep quietly bleating in the background as David gazed skyward. Later he would write the inspired text: “The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament shows His handiwork. Day unto day utters speech, and night unto night reveals knowledge”(Ps. 19:1-2). In our busy schedules, we can so easily forget to stand in awe of the heavenly beauty our Creator has prepared for our enjoyment and His glory. When we set aside time to look at the night sky and marvel at what is there, we gain a deeper understanding of God and His eternal power and glory. -Dennis Fisher

In the wonders of God’s creation, we see His majesty and His character.

하늘이 하나님의 영광을 선포하고 궁창이 그의 손으로 하신 일을 나타내는도다 -시편 19:1

나는 초등학교시절에 자주 친구 켄트와 함께 독일제 쌍안경으로 밤하늘의 별들을 보며 시간을 보내곤 했습니다. 우리는 하늘의 별들과 달에 있는 산들을 보고 감탄했습니다. 우리는 저녁 내내 교대로 이렇게 말하곤 했습니다. “쌍안경 이리 줘!” 오래 전에 유대의 한 목동도 밤하늘을 올려다보고 역시 감탄했습니다. 그는 도움이 될 만한 쌍안경이나 망원경은 가지고 있지 않았지만 더 중요한 것, 즉 살아 계신 하나님과의 개인적인 관계를 가지고 있었습니다.   다윗이 하늘을 응시하고 있을 때 양들이 뒤에서 매애 하며 울고 있는 모습이 상상 됩니다. 훗날 그는 다음과 같은 감동적인 글을 쓰게 됩니다. “하늘이 하나님의 영광을 선포하고 궁창이 그의 손으로 하신 일을 나타내는도다 날은 날에게 말하고 밤은 밤에게 지식을 전하니 언어도 없고 말씀도 없으며 들리는 소리도 없으나” (시 19:1-3). 우리는 바쁜 일상 때문에 창조주께서 우리의 즐거움과 그분의 영광을 위하여 마련해주신 하늘의 아름다움을 경외하며 바라보는 것을 쉽게 잊어버립니다. 우리가 시간을 내어 밤하늘을 바라보며 거기에 있는 것들에 경탄할 때, 우리는 비로소 하나님과 그분의 영원한 권세와 영광을 더 깊이 알게 됩니다.

주님, 이 세상은 주님의 세계입니다. 우리가 하늘과 우리 주변의 세상을 바라볼 때 주님과 주님의 창조에 경탄하게 됩니다. 주님과 주님이 하신 일들이 참으로 놀랍습니다! 주님을 경외합니다.

하나님의 창조의 경이로움 속에서 우리는 하나님의 위엄과 성품을 본다.
