악한 상상에 대한 끊임없는 투쟁

 

신의 성품에 참여하기를 갈망하는 모든 사람들은

세상에서 정욕으로 인하여 썩어질 것을 피해야 한다는 사실을 이해하도록 하라.

 

마음의 악한 상상에 맞서는 끊임없고 열렬한 영혼의 투쟁이 있어야 한다.

생각이나 행동으로 죄를 지으라는 유혹을 확고하게 물리쳐야 한다.

그대가 넘어지지 않도록 지키실 수 있는 그분을 믿는 믿음을 통하여

영혼은 아무런 오점도 없도록 수호되어야 한다.

우리는 성경을 명상하고, 영원한 구원과 관련된 일들에 관하여 진지하고 정직하게 생각해야 한다.

예수님의 무한한 자비와 사랑, 우리를 위하여 치르신 희생은 가장 진지하고 엄숙한 숙고를 요한다.

우리는 귀한 구속주요 중보자이신 그분의 품성을 깊이 생각해야 한다.

우리는 구원의 계획의 의미를 이해하려고 노력해야 한다.

우리는 자기 백성을 저희 죄에서 구원하려고 오신 분의 사명을 명상해야 한다.

끊임없이 하늘의 주제들을 명상함으로써 우리의 믿음과 사랑은 더욱 강해질 것이다.

 

 

Constant Struggle Against Evil Imaginings

 

Let everyone who desires to be a partaker of the divine nature appreciate the fact that he must escape the corruption that is in the world through lust. There must be a constant, earnest struggling of the soul against the evil imaginings of the mind. There must be a steadfast resistance of temptation to sin in thought or act. The soul must be kept from every stain, through faith in Him who is able to keep you from falling.

We should meditate upon the Scriptures, thinking soberly and candidly upon the things that pertain to our eternal salvation. The infinite mercy and love of Jesus, the sacrifice made in our behalf, call for most serious and solemn reflection. We should dwell upon the character of our dear Redeemer and Intercessor. We should seek to comprehend the meaning of the plan of salvation. We should meditate upon the mission of Him who came to save His people from their sins. By constantly contemplating heavenly themes our faith and love will grow stronger. --RH, June 12, 1888.
